The new re-designed 7 series leads off the BMW Fxx chassis code! |

LCI grille install?
The LCI grille is available to order, just wonder if anyone's done a grille swap on the f01? I can only find threads for other models, nothing for the f01.

So just ordered the LCI girlles, I'm going to have my friend at the local BMW dealership install them because I can't find any DIY's for the 7 series grill removal and I'm hoping the LCI grilles are a direct fit or it'll be money well wasted.

Does it look that different, and seem worth the cost? I remember I changed grilles on my 2007 X5, and they were about $170 for EACH kidney grille! How much for the 7 Series LCI? I think the LED lights and LED Corona Rings look so fresh & different...but how much will the new grilles add to the car? Just wondering? Thanks. Curious!

Isn't the LCI grill the same as the one used with the night vision? 9 slats vs 12?

I don't think it worth the cost, most people won't ever notice it. But the Corona rings and LED headlights does make a night and day difference.

I was going to go with a blacked out grille because my grille is beat up from rock chips but I got the LCI grilles for $100 for the pair
Btw, I looked into the LED headlamps, the cost up here in Canada is $1200 per headlamp for the non-LED and almost $2000 for the LED headlamps. The other issue is no one really knows if they're plug and play, you might have to swap out a few parts for them to work so you can imagine the cost.

LOL! To me, it's a matter of if it is worth it, and how much of a difference it would ever make. Even though it is $$$, I would not hesitate spending the money for factory LED Corona Rings (if the dealer would be willing to do the coding, and it will not affect factory warranty).

Coding for lights will not affect your warranty. I had coding done on my e92 because I installed LCI taillights and had some warranty work done and it wasn't an issue. In fact, I told the service rep not to install any updates because I had coding done.
From what I've been told by my friend who works at the local BMW parts dept. is that the lights should be plug and play and will only need coding done but he's not 100% sure so I hope someone on here will try this retrofit because it's very high on my list of "must mods" and I'm sure the rest of the pre-LCI owners might be interested in upgrading to the OEM LED corona rings because it's an OEM soluation.

Yup, headlamps are usually not plug and play and you need other supporting pieces for them to work so even the headlamps themselves aren't too expensive I worry about the other parts that might balloon the cost.
