Here's the performance exhaust at idle, I'll have to get some better vids of it under load, but you get point.

You can do the golf tee 2.0 actuator clamp mod and get both sides flowing at idle, but it's still the same muffler, so it won't sound the same as the performance exhaust.

ND...any way you could take some pics of the muffler/exhaust tips from under the vehicle? I am wanting to know if you have two pipes coming from the muffler into the tips, or just one.

It's a single pipe on this one, I haven't seen the 50i's in person, but everything I've seen on it, it's a dual pipe. They tip pipes are clamp on and can be adjusted up and down, side to side but not front to back. That was the biggest thing trying to adjust them, to get the exhaust sitting perfectly even so they stuck out of the bumper at the same length.

You can tell they're single pipe from this pic, but I can try to get an underneath pic if you need it.

If possible...what I noticed when comparing non-M Perf Package 50i and a M-Perf Package 50i was the difference in the connecting pipe from the muffler to the exhaust tip from underneath the vehicle. On the non-M Perf it was one pipe, on the M-Perf it was two. I will try to get a pic, just curious what your exhaust looks like from underneath.

Can you retrofit the ZMX package? I know you can buy the performance exhuast (this thread obviously), but i can't find any information on the PPK for the power bump that's included. My local dealer is saying it's not available.

Your comment leads to me think otherwise though?

Any help would be appreciated.

So the confirm on this, the performance exhaust still has the actuator?

Here is a clip of the performance exhaust on a 2013 M-Sport... for anyone else who finds this thread, this is what it sounds like...

To answer my own question, there is no actuator on the PE.

Wow, very cool. According to RealOEM, the performance exhaust is also 12lbs lighter. Wonder if the M-sport 15hp bump in power is from the exhaust alone.

No there is a PPK as well. Exhaust is only the muffler change, can't imagine that added a ton of power. The M-sport exhaust is close to the PE, but not the same.

i can confirm the PE is lighter than the M-sport, i still have my m-sport sitting in the garage. M-sport is louder than stock, but the PE is the real deal, no valve in the pipe either like stock or m-sport.

A bit confused what this is. A performance exhaust, but silencer? Does not compute.
I like the 50i style tips though. They should have put it on every X5.

Yeah, the thread title is a bit confusing. This is the BMW performance muffler offered for the N55 engined E70. The setup is anything but silent--see Chris's video a few posts up. I actually like the way it sounds, very aggressive. Not sure if it's worth ~ $1300.

I'm not sure if it is either, but it sounds awesome, and the closest i've heard to the exhaust i had on the 135IS, which was SICK.

My brother has the M exhaust on his 3 series and it doesn't sound anywhere near as mean as my X5 does.

Looks like there are a number of different mufflers for the N55 E70.

18307646127--standard muffler, 18kg

18307646126--M-sport muffler (options 377 and 767), 18.5kg

18302166934--performance muffler, 12.85kg

According to RealOEM, 18302166934 comes as a kit with both tips and trim pieces for the bumper. Would be nice to find a picture of this kit.

Correct, there are 3 options.

The M-sport is a factory option i think, it was welded on and i had to cut it off to put the PE exhaust on my car.

The PE kit does come as a main muffler, and then 2 tips and collar to attach to the main pipe, once you cut off the old exhaust. There are 2 trim pieces, i still have them around, i could grab a picture. They are not needed if you had a M-Sport as you already have the oval exhaust ports in the bumper trim. I believe if you didn't have a M-sport, your exhaust ports in the bumper trim are different and you would need the trim pieces.

The exhaust tips on the PE are the same shape as the M-Sport, except the PE has black chrome tips and the M-Sport is chome.

Hmm, the mid-pipe for M-sport or Performance Package cars is different too, 18307636058.
