04 X5 4.4 owners

New to the X forums but have been a long time BMW driver and fan. I am supposed to take delivery of my '04 X5 4.4 SP, PP, cold weather pkg, 19 inch wheels, etc. next week after two months of waiting. I am just kind of worried with all the talk from this forum and the other X forums of mechanical problems with the X5 4.4. Does anyone here regret buying their 4.4 I mean I am about to drop 65k on this SAV and I am still wondering about the quality issues. This X5 4.4 is going to be my dream car but I don't want to be disappointed after saving up for a long time to get it.

Dealers are not discounting on the 4.4 from MSRP due increased demand for the 4.4 engine used in the 5, 6 and 7 series cars.

Did anyone check out the '04 Lexus GX470 with the KDSS suspension for 10k less?

Any thoughts are welcomed before I go in next week.

GX470 is a luxury version of a much cheaper vehicle (Toyota 4Runner). Clearly, it costs less to modify an existing car than to build one from the ground up, hence the price difference. GX470 is a totally different kind of SUV and in terms of its driving dynamics, itís much closer to Escalade and Navigator than it is to the X5.

Our 2003 X5 has been FLAWLESS in the past 15,000 miles. It has never had even a single issue, and we drive it hard (and off-road it!).

Every car will have issues, even Lexus and Infiniti. Check out the Acura boards and see what types of things are happening to the MDX - you will be shocked.

Remember, this board is full of enthusiasts who voice their opinion. You are going to hear about EVERYTHING hear. Understand the majority of owners don't have any issues.

If you'd like, take delivery of your 4.4i and I'll swap it with our perfect 3.0i at no charge!

I just picked mine up last weekend, after selling my 01' and ordering it 2 months ago.

So far, it is great, and no problems. Other than usual dealer problems (little low on oil, tire pressures, etc) it seems mechanically sound, but I only have 200 miles on it.

We looked at the Porsch, VW, Lexuses (just ugly imho), Infiniti etc, and decided to get another X5 just like before.

Basically a $25000 expense just to get NAV and a fresh warrantee, but I have no regrets.

I love mine

I've got 2600 miles on my '04 4.4 and I love it more every day! Sounds like you are getting the same setup I've got. I've been pretty much problem free to this point, the car is a blast to drive, and the features, especially the Bluetooth, are amazing. I drove the GX and the Touareg and the Cayenne and decided on the X5 (I Sect. 179'd it in December). Great car, and no buyers remorse at all!

Check out www.x5world.com for great info and resources on the car.

I am wondering if the Bluetooth is available (option or standard) on the 2004 X5 4.4i in Canada? In Canada, the BMW Assist option is available. Is Bluetooth part of the BMW Assist option?

Thanks.
