650 GC Using Oil

I have had my 650GC for several weeks now. It is absolutely a great car. All
expectations are met and exceeded. One problem. It is using oil. At the current rate
the first quart will be gone by the 1400-1500 mark. I talked to the service mgr at the
dealership and he didn't seem too concerned. He said to bring it in when it reach the
min mark and they would check it out.
Has anybody else had this problem? And since this is my first BMW, is this typical-
especially for the high horsepower engines?
I would appreciate any feedback.
