Reprogramming your MMI (front screen)

For the Record everyone I really thought he tried to code that for me but it was clearly address an brought to my attention that he didn't sorry for the confusion.

Why the shouting? Where is the mod?

when I installed your MMI I did exactly what you asked .

You told me you only wanted the features your old MMI
had set to AKTIV .

Your exact words were =
( just put what my car has & what the old MMI has )

I even had to convince you to let me add the Aux just
in case you decided to add the plug on a later date .

I think you guys are mature enough to take care of this problem without a Mod ,all mis communication happens every where IMO all i say is

Rookie, do you know what was done other than activating the oil level menu to the MMI? I have already done that months ago and it still says updating whenever I check on it.

I would like to plug in my Blackberry to my MMI so I can stream Pandora in my car (or IPOD only). I have a 2002 745i pre-facelift. Based on this thread here is the items what I need. Please correct where wrong:

Post Facelift MMI (2005-2008)
USB Diagnostics tool with GUI to enable correct bits for new features in car (AUX=Yes, BLUTH=Yes)

These two items will allow me to acheive the Aux input of a media device that uses the headphone jack to plug into correct? Where does the AUX plug come from? Hopefully the new ASK is not required to do this, although I am having occasional problems with static in my front speakers and that has been tied to ASK units.

Sorry to keep asking this question but I want to make sure before I commit to a new MMI. The GUI interface bit changes dont scare me to much. But I think I will have the new MMI installed professionally.

Hi, the MMI is very easy to replace. You will need to get the AUX plug for around $72.00. As for the ASK you need a 06- 08 ask unit. Then some coding to marry the MMI an ASK unit to the car an finally coding to get AUX to show in the entertainment menu of the MMI.

Hi, Like Rookie has said, you will need to change the ASK to the facelift version too, this is where the AUX jack actually plugs in. The old ASK has mo provision for AUX input.

If you want bluetooth then you will need to replace the telephone module in the boot, this is covered in detail in the 'How to retrofit bluetooth' thread in the DIY section. Myself and many others have contributed a large amount of information about how to perform this upgrade, read every page and follow it through. Its a fair bit of work and not as simple as swapping out the MMI.

Ace, you say you have yours working. Could you please let the rest of us know how to get ours working as well. Not sure why you won't respond other than to say that yours works. I thought this forum was about sharing information. You obviously have gotten something done that the rest of us could really use. Why not share? Why ignore my PM on the subject? If you are too busy just say so. I don't mean to be harsh, but I just don't understand why you took the time to tell me yours works, but didn't answer the rest of my question about how I can get mine to work.

I'm sure this post could use its own thread, but I am getting really pissed at all of the juvenile fighting and he said she said that is going on. We are all adults and the discussing and sharing of information is what made this site what it is. Countless people come hear to get and provide help, and when I see one of the most helpful members choose not to help any longer because of disputes with another member it makes me want to scream. The mods need to do a better job a monitoring these situations and dealing with them appropriately. This forum will not be the same if egos rule instead of the things that bond us, which is the love of our BMW's, and the great feeling of solving a problem for another member or having someone provide us with the help we need to fix an issue or retrofit a new module.

Please remember why we came here in the first place. People will end up leaving and not coming back if these issues aren't properly dealt with. Hopefully I don't get banned for speaking my mind. I just want to help and get things back to the place they were before this war of words started. It's not productive and losing the help of great members is not acceptable.

So if you have this tool, and you need to activate something, let me know and I will share the codes I have worked out so far to help you.

Question off the Board I'm still new here and waiting for my package to program my MMI but i was wondering i have gotten the 2012 NAV maps for my 2003 745LI and clouds does not show on my display on the maps, I was curious why not, thanks for the info ahead of time still learning this coding stuff

You have to have the facelift MMI.

I purchased and installed the 2012 Nav DVD 3 months ago. I did the facelift about 2 months ago and two things that should of change didn't. No clouds in the background and the "ABC" when entering location in the Nav system didn't move to the top, as everyone else's did. I had someone check things for me and it looks like my DVD Nav Player in the trunk is the older model. So I need to change it out for a newer model to achieve those upgrades. I haven't decided if it's worth the extra dollars... Maybe someone else has a better answer...
My Logic 7 amp just went out, so that's a priority now.
