Mein Auto: 1995 BMW 540i
6-speed 1995 540i for sale - $3,600

I really love this car but have realized that rear-wheel drive is just not practical for where I live/where I need to drive. If I could justify two vehicles, I would definitely keep it. ~165,000 miles, but the engine short block was replaced via factory recall at around 80,000 miles. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get any of the repair records from the previous owner. I'm pretty sure I can verify the recall work by calling the dealership if necessary. First the bad:

- Leather drivers seat is not in great shape and the back no longer adjusts up and down
- Tint on the rear window needs to be removed
- One of the rear windows rolls down, but not up, and the driver's window works intermittently
- Needs new dashboard light bulb, (not a huge issue, but it's a little difficult to read the temp gauge)
- Shifting is somewhat stiff when cold, but I have been told by my mechanic that this is not necessarily a cause for concern
- SRS warning light is on
- Is missing the left fog light/housing
- Other minor issues/wear common to ~15+ year old vehicles

And the good:

- Appears to not leak or burn any oil
- Is a joy to drive and has tons of power
- Virtually rust free
- Paint is in good shape for its age
- New tires (with the last few months) on the front, and okay rear tires
- Solid brakes
- Comes with an additional set of wheels

Basically it drives great, has been very reliable, and all of the major components are in fine working order. I am located in Buena Vista, CO. Feel free to email with any questions. Thanks,

Andre

why is rwd not practical? rwd is better than fwd for 95% of driving situations. fwd was only really ever invented as its cheaper to produce

Well, there are a lot of steep, icy roads here. What I really need is all-wheel drive.

Just don't drive it so fast in the winter and you'll be fine. You do realize that these cars were built in germany, and they have some of the hardest winters in europe. All wheel drive and four wheel drive don't give you a better advantage they just help more if you get stuck.
