E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Odometer doesn't work
I just realized my odometer doesn't work. I searched the forum and I guess the gears are usually the problem. Where are these gears and how do you get to them?

Ok, that doesn't look too bad but do you have to remove the steering wheel to get the instrument panel out? I have the SRS so removing the steering wheel may be difficult.

Not overly. Disconnect the battery and then have a coffee. Then tacklle the wheel. You'll need TORX keys.

I didn't remove the steering wheel, had a little trouble getting the plastic face plate under the cluster out because the wheel was still on but eventually got it out. Go slow and carefully and it'll come out. Once that was out the rest was a piece of cake. As for the gears themselves I ordered through the company listed in the previous post. Got the gears in three days and fixed. Follow the directions on the companies website. Easy and straightforward.
