New Top Recommendation
Hi all, new here and hope you can help.
I recently purchased a 98 M Roadster and while top is in ok condition, I would like to replace it. That said, I've found a few options using the original fabric "twillFast" at around $329 though GAHH what I think is the same for $549. So, does anyone know if the GAHH top worth the extra money? Thanks! |

GAHH top vs other brands
My experience with GAHH is with a vinyl top for my 2001 Miata, so this might not be pertinent for a Z3. Good quality stuff, though. More in line with your inquiry: My 2001 Z3's original top was slashed three weeks ago, all the way through the liner. The BMW dealer wants $3500 for a new top. My independent Bimmer garage suggested a particular auto upholstery installer in our town. This installer uses EZ ON tops, using the OEM material, $2100 installed, liner included. I'm going with him and EZ ON.

I purchased a GAHH top last September and had it installed. The top quality was very good and I am pleased with the installation. It looks just like the original top except for the non-zip window. I paid something in between your two prices. You may need to replace the three tension straps which are available only from BMW and cost about $150 for about $10 worth of thin web belting and elastic.

This is very helpful, thanks!
And why do people do stuff like that; I'll never understand. |
