2002 BMW 325Ci--Looking at one with high mileage, good deal?

Hi, I am looking at a 2002 325Ci. The listed price is at $6800, but I know I could get it down to 6 even. This car is in pristine condition, however, it has 188,000 miles on it. The owner claims that they are mainly commuter highway miles, however, I was just wondering will this turn out to bite me in the a$$? The owner has claimed they have taken it to the mechanic and he said "althought the mileage is high, it's one of the tightest, strongest 325's he's seen." Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Take the car to your own trusted independent BMW specialist for a second opinion.

If its what you want in terms of interior color, paint, the right combination of the two, than that's something to consider, I'd try to haggle him down to 5800, it's 10 years old, and the slower of the two. As is always said, make sure its in good condition mechanically

Go to Ericthecarguy's youtube channel and watch his videos on buying a used car. Very helpful IMO.

So many questions to be asked other than is it the right color combination. Read the WIKI and come back if you do not understand anything.

At that mileage, the cooling system, belts and pulleys should have been done 3 times by now. Have they?

There are many records that will not show up on a Carfax. Some law enforcement agencies, for example, do not share accident records. That's why it's vitally important to take the car to an independent BMW specialist (not the owner's mechanic) for a pre-purchase inspection.

Also, many enthusiasts would say that the typical BMW dealer service schedule does not provide an acceptable level of preventative maintenance.
