F10 Interior LED Conversion

Although brighter is nice, I prefer lighting with a warmer color temperature.

I like th warmer color on the interior; however, just as BMW designers prefer, I love the cool color and illumination of LEDs and HIDs on the exterior (angel eyes, door handles, HID headlights, license plate illumination, etc).

Thanks big deep for the pics, they look pretty good. I think I will do the door lights, they get the most bang for the buck. I will try to find a 9 LED with a lower Kelvin, I dont like the blueish color.

My pleasure X. Yeah, the door puddle 9-SMD LEDs seem to have a color similar to 8000k. I was hoping for a color closer to 6000k. The place I got it from claimed it was "white". More like a "hyper white", which is often overly blue or almost purple.

Please keep me (us) posted if you find a bulb that you like with a color closer to 6000k. I also am not fully satisfied with my interior festoon/bus LED bulb. I am referring to the one on the lower part of the trunk, not the LID.

Hey bud. That link didn't work, but if I were to guess, you may be referring to the trunk bus bulb. From a Sylvania chart I found, it should be the 4311 bulb, which translates to 39mm; HOWEVER, I found that the 39mm LED bulb was too short and would not fit no matter how much I bent the housing clip.

The length to buy is the 42mm. The 42mm LED bulb I bought seemed a tad loose when put in that main trunk light housing, so I bent the clip in a little (give a snug fit).

I might try these out on the door puddle lights, its cheap enough that I have nothing to lose. The blade type wedge bulb usually throws out more light in a uni-direstion application such as the door puddle lights.

Looks like a great choice. Good point, as my 9-SMD bulb only really has 2 facing down, and one forward. There are no reflectors built in these housings, so the light gets wasted in the door.

Guys, sorry for bothering again, but how in bloody hell do I remove this two parts from from my pictures in ceiling without braking anything??

So far - that ceiling part abow driver and passanger I've started to remove from roof window...everything went smoothly, but in the middle there are clips or something..and I got stuck...

As for the lamps above rear seats..I've no idea, how to even begin with

But I've managed to make list of led's I'll need:

glove compartment: 1x T10 *
ceiling front: 3x 12V6W T10
ceiling back: 2x 12V6W T10
mirrors lightning: 4x 12V2,3W T5
footwell: 2x W5W T10 *
doors: 4x T10 *
trunk: 1x 43mm sulfit
About the trunk - I dont know why, but my F10 has only one light in trunk...

thx a lot...I'll try that...but still I'm affraid as f**k to brake something..especially that rear lights holder...have absolutely no idea from which side to start removing it...I've tried both front and rear..and still nothing....

Sorry that I can't help you more. My rear lighting console is entirely different than yours.

I suggest you start from the point of view that 'it can be done' and that they would not dare make a holder for an incandescent lamp that could not be serviced.

voMack, I did a complete LED conversion of all my interior lights on my F07. My front ceiling lights, between the front driver and passenger seats looks similar to yours. BEWARE. I tried to remove the housing to get to the original bulb and broke the clips. Took the car to the dealership the next day and they were nice enough to replace the console front bulbs and the rear bulbs. It cost me $30 but that was because the tech had to glue the broken clips and wait for drying.
Might want to consider getting a T10 LED strip for the footwell. Provides way more light than just the LED bulb.
I posted my pics of my complete LED conversion on the F07 forum...although the thread is several months old now.

Hi guys
So after a while, my interior lightning conversion is almost complete. [two weeks ago I've scratched my front bumper and it needed to be replaced, so the conversion was put on hold]. Right now I'm still waiting for delivering of T5 leds but everything else si complete. Bulbs in ceiling were changed by guys in service, because I was pretty confident, that I'll brake something. Changing all the other bulbs was a childs play

I have upgraded all the interior bulbs to white LED... looks crisp and fresh! All plug and play, no errors or anything. Total installation is about 30 minutes.

Thanks for sharing the pics. I think it looks great! It is a little hard to tell with pictures because they can be so different depending on the camera and ISO capability.

Where did you get those bulbs? I like that they look more white than some aftermarket LEDs.

Also, did you change any bulbs for your handles?? I noticed you posted a pic:

I got my bulbs off eBay. The same 5 LED/SMD lights that BigDeep1 used. A seller on eBay sells a pair of them for $5, shipping included. gteperformance is the seller.

Oddly enough, all my replacement bulbs were T10.... even in the trunk. I vaguely remember a total of 17 bulbs needing to be replaced. I have three bulbs in my trunk.

The bulbs in my door handles came from the factory that way. With the door handles, license plate lights, and angel eyes being LED from the factory, I don't understand why BMW wouldn't continue the same look on the interior. But again, that is just me.

It has a very classy look.... in my opinion.
