Just ordered 2013 550i and looking for M5 rear spoiler
So I'm new to the board and just ordered my first BMW ever. My 2013 550i should be here in about 7 weeks and I wanted to get a rear spoiler that looks identical to the one I see on the new M5. The dealership said they only have a carbon fiber rear spoliers and after painting it would be $1000. Any suggestions on where to go to do it for less? I just want it Space Grey to match. I assume they could install for me once I ordered at the dealership? There are so many online, but hard to tell what kind of quality you are getting. Thanks.

I assume you are looking for the milder looking rear trunk lip that matches with what the M5 has..............Go to F5 post and look in the F10/F11 Commercial Marketplace, a guy named JBSPEED is selling tons of the rear trunk lips for $185 delivered. Sure, the part is from Taiwan but it appears very much like the OEM product and the paint quality is great and they are matching our paint codes. I already have mine (for a car still on the way) in Dark Graphite II and it looks great. It will come with 3m double sided tape and you can install yourself easily. A lot of folks have previously bought similar lips for their E46's, myself included, and the paint is still perfect after 4+ years and the 3m tape has not budged.

Dude just order the OEM one from Tischer. They sell it with or without paint:
$255 or $385 painted http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=4462

Just received my spoiler from JBSPEED along with the 3m tape. Any recommendation on prep work or how much tape to use??? It is a thin roll, so I'm thinking a few strips at least. I want to get my plan before starting the process. I also ordered the front painted reflectors and those were easy to install, paint match was great.
One interesting thing is I thought I had Dark graphite metallic II, but I actually have paint code A90, which is the first dark graphite metallic. Thanks |

If possible, use one single strip of tape side to side. Then peel about 1" from each side, while leaving the part you peeled off hanging towards the floor. Position the spoiler using both hands, and when it is centered and flush with the trunk, press the spoiler down at the ends to attach with the exposed tape. Since your spoiler is only attached with less than 1" of tape on each end, if you made a mistake you can still correct it, as it will be easy to remove. If you are happy with the position, start pulling on the red tape you left hanging, to expose the adhesive between the spoiler and the trunk until all the red tape comes off. Press firmly to secure in place. This is the easiest and simplest way to do it.
If you peel the whole tape from the beginning it will be a NIGHTMARE attaching it correctly the first time. Enjoy!

Alex-
Great idea and thanks for taking the time to write it all up. I was able to get it installed, but had not seen your post. That would have made things quite a bit easier! Steve |

Of course, when I had to install my spoiler the lessons learned in the lab came very handy. Congrats on the spoiler! One of the lowest cost, most discreet, but nicest looking mods you can get for your F10. Alex.

I just did this on my car and used a modified version of Alex C's method where I pre-marked a few target areas with blue tape first. Looks good!

I can do you guys for one better. I've got a BMW Performance (Factory), option which of course will cost more than the second spoiler listed, which is the replica version of it. I can get you both, of course one has a BMW badge, the other does not, but both look absolutely excellent:
<< OEM PARTBMW Performance F10 Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler Authentic BMW Performance from Germany Subtle appearance improvement 100% fitment guaranteed UV protected for lasting finish Perfect addition to any other carbon fiber accessories << Replica partF10 BMW Performance Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler ![]() ^^Replica ![]() ^^OEM BMW I personally can't see the difference between the two, so it will work for anyone, but boy do they look great!
