Siri on iOS 6 over Bluetooth

I finally installed the iOS 6 gold master on my iPhone 4S.

Looks like Siri works really well over bluetooth now. Was broken on iOS5, but just hold down the home button on iOS 6 and you can have a 2 way conversation with Siri over bluetooth. The screen also offers the option to switch Siri from bluetooth to handset, much like you can over the phone.

This is at least a slight reprieve from the bad news about the dock connector.

Does it only work when you are using BT Audio as the audio source? I ask this because when I had a 4S for a couple days, I could use Siri, but the iDrive would think I'm on a phone call and it would work, but barely. You could use it fine when you were using BT Audio though.

I presume you got this to work by using the button the iPhone itself....

There was a post earlier (few weeks back) about someone having managed together Siri working by long-press of the Tel button on steering wheel. This was with iOS6 beta2.
This was also very intermittent and no one else could manage this, except this one person.

Was wondering if anyone got anymore luck!

I tried to make it work by holding telephone button. Doesn't work. You have to push the button on the phone.

Yep it uses bt as an audio source. Acts like you are on the phone but runs Siri. It's like making a call to Siri.

Interesting... Siri on my 4S worked great on my 2003 X5 UNTIL iOS 6. Seems Apple killed Siri working through the older Bluetooth modules. Only other mention I've found on this is here:

Anyone else seeing the same?

if it's like making a call to Siri, wouldn't it be possible to program one of the memory buttons to make that call ?

That won't work as there is no number to call which will activate siri. There is a jailbreak solution though it's not very elegant whereby siri is activated after you dial a predefined number. To activate you need to call and then hangup on that number and then within a few seconds siri will activate over the bt. I can't find a link but if you have a jailbroken phone on ios 5 then you can make this work. Google is your friend
