Same here. Before this update all I had was "Contacts." Now when I select Menu/Office, then "push" iDrive knob to left I get choice of Office Today/Contacts/Messages. Can then select sub menus but nothing loaded. At least it's a bit of progress.

I'm still not getting emails either, even though I have "Current office" showing up in idrive.

Haven't tried texts yet.

What I will say is if I need to have notifications on in order to get emails on the idrive screen, thus flooding my iPhone screen with glimpses of all my emails, I will scrap the idea altogether.

I'm not a fan of message content being displayed in the notifications, especially if its sensitive material (work) or inappropriate material (from friends ).

I'm in the UK and just managed to get this working. I'm not sure if this would work outside of the UK though. I had to do the following on the car:

Settings -> Software Update. I followed the prompts using BMW teleservices and updated to the latest MX and TX releases. This took a while and you have to be stationary with the ignition on.
Telephone -> Bluetooth Menu. Press Option button and select Configure Bluetooth. Ensure that Office is enabled.
Reconnected my phone (4s with iOS6) to the car and ensure that Show Notifications is enabled as mentioned earlier in the thread.
Then go to Office and it should all work. When I receive a SMS or email I get the envelope icon on the Idrive and if I open the message I can see the message and have audio playback.

I'm very happy with this. Unfortunately all types of message are handled in the same way but you can set a filter.

Only new messages will sync so don't expect old content to show up

I got texts to show up with the instructions above, but emails are not. I think you have to set your email settings to push if you have that option available or fetch every 15 mins, I am hoping if I send an email and wait 15 mins in the car, it will show up. I dont want to fetch emails every 15 mins or push either, because it will drain the crappy iPhone battery and it will keep getting emails all day, especially while you are in bed.

I don't use push email. I'm not really concerned about whether email works well. For me the main concern was SMS and that seems to work fine. I personally don't have iMessage enabled but I assume it would work the same.

That's my understanding as well - That the phone has to be locked/in sleep mode and either push emails or fetch at a certain interval for emails to work. I do not do either, as I fetch on demand. Getting txts to come through is fine. So, I will give it a go when I update this weekend.

No emails only text messages. I tried the fetch every 15 mins.

I have read all the threads and this sounds great.

However, are we sure that you need banners/alerts enable on the phone? Seems silly.

I would think enabling bluetooth alerts and enabling to view while locked would be sufficient.

I am just trying to determine the minimum required to get things working rather than enabling a bunch of stuff that really doesn't matter.

Same, Txt no Email.

I tried it and I only get texts. Phone does not have to be locked and banners/ alerts don't need to be enabled.

Not sure what to do to get email working.

Here is what I figured out.

Text messages don't require the banner to be enable but email does.

I got email working by ensuring I was pulling/polling the correct mail folders. I had them set before but when I upgraded to IOS6 the settings reset to just the inbox instead of including all my custom filter folders.

The email comes in but it shows as text messages, not email, so you have to make sure text, or all message formats is selected. Most likely a bug or something on my car needs updating.

For both email and text, the phone display does not have to be locked.

So both text and email are working to some extent.

I think the whole system needs more work. For example, if I get a text, I would like iDrive to autmatically display it for a few seconds. Maybe even chime. Right now a little envelope icon shows up and you may never notice it.

My pre-combox f10 doesn't even have office in iDrive since the last software update. Am I missing something or is this standard?

Text no problem, still can't get email. It is set to "push" for my inbox, banner on, show in lock on, etc.

Tried with phone locked and screen off, with on, etc.

I was able to send an email using the phone to myself and it popped up on the screen as a text.

You might try unpairing the phone and repairing and trying again.

A $60k+ car and not a stick of documentation.

I suppose this is part of the charm of owning a BMW. Discovering what the car is suppose to do, figuring out how to do it, and realizing it does not work.

For email solution: go to
Settings > Notifications > Mail then change show to 1 or 10 unread items on your iPhone, and it shd work and you have to do every time when you get into car.

have the same issue get the text but no email, i have the craddle and it will make the sound in the speakers as the same sound you have in the phone., when you get the text the music stops as the same when you get the phone call. and the small sign of text show up in the screen.

It seems if you make any changes to the email settings once the phone is connected it seems to work ... But is very flakey.

There is clearly a bug and my money is with combox software . Needs a update.

Guys... the email issue is at iOS6, not at the Combox firmware.

A couple of iOS 6 beta versions got the email working with MAP but then it got broken somehow.

This was reported months ago.

Are you using the cradle or Bluetooth or USB cable?

How is yours working via cradle?

Bt audio might be deactivated but bt phone certainly isn't.
