325E hesitation on acceleration

Alright, so in my 85 325E, whenever I accelerate from a stop on a hot day, there is a long hesitation, and a big dip in the RPMs. And, my car will occasionally stall if I only put on the throttle for a short time from a standstill. The stalling however only happens when I am driving my car in the first 5 minutes after just starting it after it being off for only a few minutes. I'm not sure whether this might be dirty injectors, a fuel pressure/pump issue, a vacuum leak, or something else. Anyone had this problem before, or have any advice?

Try testing and adjusting your TPS. I had similar hesitation issues and it ended up being the TPS

and for good measure an injector clean. Vacuum leak would happen all the time.

Alright. I'm gonna replace the fuel filter, but how do I check the TPS? And as far as cleaning the injectors, should I try seafoam or techron? Or something else?

welcome to vapor lock. things i did to help stop it, wrap the fuel line and fuel filter with a heat wrap. also i did notice it happened alot to me when my intank pump was going bad. after i replaced the intank and wrapped the lines, it basically disappeared.

some other things you can do, do the electric fan conversion and set the fan thermostat to a lower temperature, put in a lower temp t.stat, and after doing a cooling system flush, use a 60-40 mix of water to coolant and add in either royal purples purple ice or redlines wetter water. youll want to use 3 bottles of either. thatll help keep engine temps down as well.

Injector clean: Whip them out and take them to a shop with a cleaning and flow testing rig. TPS: Normally set with a feeler gauge to register the datum point of 'just off tick over'. You need a DVM or similar to set it as it invilved the 'make and break' of a switch..

Should be under an hour, fuel filter is in front of the left rear wheel.

the intank isnt bad. pop off the rear seat cushion, remove the cover and theres the top of it. 3 lines a couple wires, twist and remove. now there is options for the intank pump. i did a write up on replacing it with a chevy vega pump to keep prices easy on the pocket.

fuel filter is easy, you may want to lift the drivers rear up a bit to get some room to slide under.
