Ha, nice try. But the devil is in the details. See post 34.

I, and no doubt others, are getting tired of this running disagreement. Lets agree to disagee and move on. OK?

Yes. Don't think you're gonna get on Franka's good side that easily! Took me nearly forever and I'm one helluva likable guy!

Its easier than one might think. After all you're on my good-guy list.

540 M Sport is on my good-guy list too, even if he is not interested in agreeing to disagree.

Twice I bought H&R spacers and twice the extra length lugs came with them. It may depend on your choice of suppliers as to whether lugs come with them or not.

Igor, if you bought these off ECS, on the same page, they have also the bolts. You can buy them saparately, or you can buy them packaged with the corresponding bolts. It's all on that page, but you have to scroll down.

Cheers

Yeah, the 10mm spacers I bought from ecs came with the extended lugs. I was just worried about them cause I noticed they only thread into the hub about 10mm. But I guess it's okay because the threads on my stock lugs seem to have threaded in about 10mm also...

i just bought a pair of 5mm h&r hubcentric trak wheel spacers for 99 540i from turner motorsports for $60 shipped--- the longer bolts cost $2.50 black extended 32mm wheel bolts which u definately need--i needed them to fit my new style 42 18x9 wheels in the front since the tire rubbed against the strut(bilstein pss coilover)--DON'T BUY CHEAP WHEEL SPACERS--h&r spacers are excellent quality and worth every dollar if u don't want ur bmw to shake at high speeds

No problem Frank, so which points would you like to continue the debate on? That tire width, makes no difference in the equation?

Yeah I was gonna do that later... It Was raining a few days ago and when I went to the car the next day, there was a huge puddle just resting on the lip.I'll do the bead of silicon along with other stuff that came in today... These are the last things I ordered and took the longest to get here...

BMW motorsports side moldings. Gonna dechrome the trim. I got the rear bumper shadowline trim about 2 weeks ago.

My reverse cam...

And the last box is a 55w 6k hid slinking ballast kit.

Somewhat related is this post today about E39 wheel specs being different than most:
> E39 (1997 - 2003) > will e46 rims fit e39?

  1. Bore: either elarge the 72.56mm e46 wheel bore to 74.1mm (at a machine shop) or use something like spacer adapters.
  2. Offset: Make sure you can get the wheels and tires into e39 spec with spacers

lovemy 98 528i is correct they absolutley make adapters spacers that allow you to run 72.56mm wheels on 74.1mm hubs. H&R make some in 15mm and 20mm. I know Turner and ECS sell them and I am sure there are other sources as well. I think there was another company that used to make them too ARD maybe?

Here is what the H&R adapters look like

Turner
http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-86...-5-series.aspx

ECS
http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E39-530...eels/Adapters/

Adapters that convert e39 wheels (74.1 mm) to rest of the world bmw spec (72.56mm) also may exist.

Third Option
There is also the option of swapping in e60 wheel bearings/hubs and that will give you the more standard 72.56mm hubs. But in the case of e46 wheels you would still need to run spacers to get them to fit. I don't know much about this and whether it is a good idea or not, but someone did do it and write it up.
