Porsche or Corvette?

Seeing that most of you guys drive BMW's and other German cars on this forum, I was curious on what you guys like better Porsche Boxster, 911 or Corvette?

I know the Corvette isn't up to par in some areas like the seats and interior, but with the new C7 coming out would you guys consider one over a porsche?

I would buy a ZR1, but I would probably take a GT3RS instead. I wouldn't want a regular Vette

Given that this is a fan site of a German brand that continually makes the argument that refinement and handling is more important than cheap power, I think the preference around here will lean the obvious way.

I would take the Porsche 911. My older brother bought one long time ago. It was a blast to drive. I have driven my old girl friend's Vette, it's okay and had a lot of plastic in it.

Owned a couple 911's back in the 70's. Have never owned a Vette but have ridden in quite a few over the years. No comparison; would never consider owning a Vette. For me right now the BMW is more practical than the Porsche but if I just had money to burn on an expensive toy.......

I have an 08 z06 .. I love it ! longest car ive owned believe it or not ! I also drove the new 911(991S) with the PDK and it felt slow compared to my z06. Handled about the same I would say.

Would you consider the new c7 when it comes out? Better interior and seats and probably has better steering feel than your z06, possibly even handle better. Porsche is great, just doesn't have the torque the vettes have.

I've wanted a 911 since before I could drive (late 70's, early 80's). I've never wanted a Corvette. Neither is practical as an only vehicle.

I am not sure how I feel about the c7 yet. I won't get rid of this car for a few reasons one being its a 427...

my next big purchase would probably be an m5/6 v10 or new m3 just to change it up a bit.

I would get the porsche but if im gonna spend 122k then I will just get a ferrari/lambo even if it is a couple years old.

I'm a corvette guy, you can get the Z06, smoke the competition, and enjoy a good American made car! No disrespect to BMW of course!

I have the best combination. BMW 2001 330i 5spd SP (daily) and 2007 porsche 911 Turbo (weekend)

I wouldn't be able to control myself and I'd probably be driving that 911 all day.

Either way, regarding the corvette. I've driven a grand sport 2011. Its very fast, handles very nicely, it has great steering, phenomenal transmission, it looks awesome, it sounds awesome...overall I love it. However, given the choice, I would still buy the Porsche any day.

I can't see getting a 2 seater like a Vette or Boxster. One of the appeals of a car like that is weekend getaways, and that's almost impossible with a 2 seater.

I'd rather have a Camara ZL1 than a Corvette, love that thing, even the interior is nice (in pictures anyway).

Seriously...the Camaro interior is nice? Oh dear lord...we have vastly different opinions on what constitutes a nice interior...

Can't see that image but if it's a 2010 Camaro it's not a ZL1, which has a lot of alcantara added. By American standards it's nice, that's what I meant:

Similarly priced to what, the $70k Camaro ZL1?

You buy that car cause it has supercar performance at the price of a 5 series, not cause of the interior. I like that the ZL1 interior is nice enough that it doesn't make me want to barf like a Corvette.

Well, I looked up prices, the loaded Camaro ZL1 is actually $58k, a Cayman R starts at $68k and you know how Porsche options are, it's an $80k car.

And they're totally different cars, I can see the appeal of 580 hp V8s.

I would have to cover the Camera's dash if I ever drive one.

Ditto - the Camaro looks awesome outside...but once you open that door...yikes.

Reminds me of an epsidoe I had back about 10 years ago.

Living in Ohio at the time. Was driving the 2001 Audi S4. Was looking for another Porsche and decided on the 968 with M030 suspension. Found one in NW Ohio; just one pic, exterior only. Amethyst metallic with dark burgandy interior was the description. Went up there with my friends to check it out.

It was really pretty on the outside...really nice dark metallic purple. I opened the door... Oh Dear Lord...I have not seen anything that garrish ever before. It was bright purple...the dash, the carpeting...my eyes!

We refer to it as Grimace to this day...
