When I say Audi and stated that it included the other brand it was obvious to a 5 year old that I meant the Parent company as a whole that owns all those companies.

I believe everybody on this thread is aware of the succes the VAG group is having at this moment.
I would not mind owning a 911 and I am very pleased with our VW GTI.
The four ringer type of cars are just not having a place on my shortlist, I like the Bavarian type of cars better.
Eventhough the aspects of being a sometimes loathed brand, as Solstice just stated, do have a negative influence on owning a BMW.

All that said and understanding now that a trillion Chinese (give or take a comma) will gurgle down your gas in a couple of years in luxurious,China made Audis, will that have influence on gas prices, hence will you be forced in hybrid BMW's?

Like the thee cylinder that will be showed at the upcoming Paris car show?

And, well this is a question for Union I ques, what will happen with the Audi brand as it will become the type of car that all new money Chinese are riding in?

So you are saying that Audi is trying to be like BMW in the US becuase BMW sells more car in the US than Audi. Wouldn't that mean in Europe and China, BMW is in the opposite shoe, selling less cars and trying to be like Audi?

In China yes, in Europe its my understanding they still out sell Audi (Not the mothership)

Most (not all) of Audi's growth has been in China (i believe a 33% increase) So yes Audi is trying to be like BMW in the US and Europe.

You have any proof to back that up? I mean recent sales report from Europe, not last year's. I believe Audi is sell well in Europe, the A3 and the Q5 is selling like hot cakes over there.

Hardly. A6 3.0T is faster than 535i and the S6 smokes the 550i

So far AutoUnion has just made factual comments. Plus Audi is relevant in any discussion on 5 pricing. You can't discuss pricing without discussing competition. Without competition there is no benchmark to assess if something is expensive or cheap.

That said, one should not overlook that the reason the A6 outsells the F10 in Europe is because of cheaper front wheel drive models.

Badge whore? really? I own both 2013 Audi S4 and a 12 Bmw 550I. I've owned Audi A4, Infiniti G37, Mazda Rx8, Mini cooper, Nissan Altima, Scion TC. Hardly a badge whore! I've driven A6 few times now, 5 series is much better in every way. Sorry, I know how much you love Audi.

Actually in China absolutely. There are some articles floating that BMW is looking to make the same kind of investment (although not the same scale) as Audi did in China since they see the untapped potential.

I work on years since this is the true basis of "Annual Sales" Besides I am tired of proving you wrong and having you change your statement. You said I was full of BS and I showed you that you were wrong, so you come with something else, and on and on...

Obviously you are not in sales, and therefore don't understand that copying the things that makes your leading competitor better than you while not copying their mistakes is sound business practice and makes total sense. Also trying to be number 1 when your not is the goal ove EVERY business.

Agree with you on this one. F10 is a much better car (maybe not in every way). But I still think the Audi wins on price-value for those that care about that sort of thing. I certainly wouldn't buy a 528i over an A6 3.0T at the same price.

You may very well be right. I think in both places they tend to sell the 3 series and A4 the most but I don't doubt what you are saying. Also the A6 has the benefit of having been redesigned which always give them a bump in sales. I like the A6 exterior, but prefer the BMW interior.

BTW - I wanted an S5 but the Audi residuals are so bad (or not subsidized) that it took it out of my price range. Also their ED department wanted the VAR taxes for the car ahead of delivery and then would refund. Gave me an uneasy feeling and decided against it.

Agree with you there, I would also go with A6 3.0T over 528I. I can't imagine driving a 4k lbs car with a 4 cyl. I would go nuts!

Question wouldn't a 528 compare against an A6 2.0T? Just a question.

Its not an overall price thing for me since I lease, the residual (subsidized or not) makes the biggest impact on my budget.

But not dollar for dollar. And let's face it the people who buy those 4 cylinder 5 series cars are more concerned about dollars than displacement.

The 3.0T would be a nice engine... In an A4, in a big sedan its nothing but a slow piggy. s6 is nice still has terrible interior choices unless you like the tinfoil and black look, also loaded you're almost (within 1,000) in m5 territory... So not really a 1-for-1, also I'd equate it to the s4/335i comparisons, their upgraded line is being compared to base models (in this case the 550, or 335i).
