Outside door handle not working/questions

My mom just called and said she can't open the door from the outside.

Did some searching around/research and it seems like most common problem is Door Handle Carrier.

I found few instruction guides but wondering if anyone has any videos etc? I will most likely tackle this myself.

My question is, where should I get the part? Seems like OEM BMW one is garbage, am I better off going with some aftermarket brand?

What would you guys recommend?

Any other info would be appreciated.

Local BMW wants $150

I found it at German auto parts .com and ECS Tuning for $50 bucks....$100 for BMW genuane part

No need to go with BMW part. Aftermarket is fine. I bought the aftermarket replacement on eBay about 4 yrs ago and it's still working fine.

Should I take it apart and see what's wrong? seems like some guys are doing DYI fixes to broken part vs replacing it.

Or should I just go ahead and purchase? ECS has it for 50 bucks.....

Normally, it was broken, not jammed so it might be hard to fix. I'd replace it at that price.
