transmission imon a mission

whats up my bimmer heads i got an 95 325i convert and the trans is going on it i was wondering if any 325i transmission would fit like a sedan tranz or a coupe can fit it or do i just have to find a tranz fron the same model . much help needed and what year dose it start from and end like 92 to 99 can they be put on from the same model.325 or can i use a 328 or 323 or 318 tranz like the hondas they call them puzzles cause you can put it all together lol

You can use any E36 transmission you want. They're all interchangeable. Only thing I'm uncertain about is whether or not the Getrag 5-speed and ZF 5-speed use drive shafts of the same length... Could be. And I'm assuming you're referring to a manual transmission in your car.

whats up zegerman thanks for resonding but its an automatic and some one told me to look it up or ask someone cause he said that some trans are small and some are long like the 4dr 325 trans might be longer that the 2 door 325 just so i dont go buying the wrong trans cause one's short and one's long but you say their all interchangeable like the honda.

no since in replacing an auto transmission. 5 speed swap...

Short answer: you can use a transmission from ANY 325 (coupe, sedan, or convertible). You have other options, but I don't have the time to go into everything right now.

thanks zegerman know i think ill buy that tranz from this guy he has a 325i sedan thats wrecked and he selling the trans for 200 i just wanted to make sure that trans would fit thanks
