A kick feeling when I brake??? Please help
I just purchased a 2001 x5 4.4 great truck has no check engine light no codes runs a feels great. My only concern is when Im braking coming to a complete stop I feel like a kick doesn't really feel like its coming from the transmission but from the front of the truck. If im driving low speed and slowly brake its wont do it but if I'm doin 10-15 and up mph and brake and I'll feel a kick. I feel like its a worn out motor mound and when I stop it's shift the engine forward im not really sure. Please give me some opinions on what you think it's is and what I can do other than that truck runs great no codes no lights great truck. Thanx

Sounds like thrust rod bushings. Quick test is to roll the car slowly in drive, then tap on the brakes repeatedly. If you feel this "kick" you have bad bushings and or ball joints for thrust rods.
Good Luck |

the front control arm bushings are worn out, $40 bucks each or entire control arm is $125 with bushing pressed in. If press in the arrows on the part must line up for the pushing to work properly. And the lower ball joint that connects to it could be worn. Replaced mine and drives like brand new @ 127k miles on a 2003 with 3.0i motor. Realoem.com has the part numbers and check out pelican parts or fcpgroton for pricing comparison.
