Air Suspension X5 4.8is 2005

Are there signs or characteristics to look for that would indicate the compressor is starting to go? How do you test the compressor to determine if it needs to be replaced? Where do you suggest buying a compressor if it needs to be replaced? My system is completely dead. Checked the fuses and all are fine. Green lights on the leveling switch are not coming on at all.
