ps why did you purchase the F10 previously, and not the M3 or other cars like a Porsche, (used) Ferrari/Porsche/Lambo etc? Did you own an E60 before the F10?
First, if you think lap times on the ring have any meaning to how I rate a car you've misunderstood pretty much everything.

Second, I need 4 doors and don't buy used cars. I don't trust them and for me personally there is high value and satisfaction in taking delivery of a new car and knowing everything about the cars history. My target was mid-size sedans and BMW made the best available and it used to be "sporty" enough. The F10 might still be best in biz but it's no longer sporty enough, hence I needed to drop one size. I'm glad I did, the E90 M3 is very good. The M5 might be a sporty enough compromise but at $100k+ it's no longer enough. At that price I want a true sports car not a compromise.

You know the above is false??
Sorry, but FL has lost all credibility in the racing community by disregarding all recent Corvette entries. GM has gone out of its way to validate their claims, unlike most other manufacturers. It's hard to trust anything they print now....

May not have any relevance to you, but laptimes is certainly a measure of sportiness of a car even if one doesn't track it.

And yes, guessed as much that a 4 door is needed and my guess is preferably one with more rear leg room than a E90 (the reason for your having had an E60 and bought a F10). Unfortunately, your F10 turned lemon and didn't manage to change the suspension to check whether it's a right compromise of sportiness and space. Life is often a matter of compromise taking into account needs and wants. For a good 4 seater with comfortable leg room (and ability to seat 5), imo nothing sportier than a F10

M5 is not a true sports car, I agree but again, nothing sportier here at this price band that can seat 4/5. Plenty of 2 seater options, but this would not meet your/my needs.

ps a modified M3 (M3 DTM) http://www.bmwblog.com/2012/09/30/fa...t-in-valencia/ and I believe true sportiness is tested at the tracks, not butt testing and testing it out in the forums but of course for our individual purchases - butt testing

pps Dr Klaus Draeger, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG with responsibility for development, says: "The return of BMW to the DTM is a fundamental part of the restructuring of our motorsport activities. With its increased commitment to production car racing, BMW is returning to its roots. The race track is the perfect place to demonstrate the impressive sporting characteristics of our vehicles against our core competitors in a high-powered environment. The DTM is the ideal stage on which to do this."

Hans Werner Aufrecht, 1st Chairman of the Board of ITR e.V. (DTM commercial rights holder and promoter): "We welcome the decision by BMW to enter the DTM from 2012. This is a further milestone for the future of our popular racing series, and proves that our efforts over the past few years have paid off. We laid the foundation for this in conjunction with the DMSB and the existing DTM manufacturers, namely Audi and Mercedes-Benz. Thus I would like to heartily thank all parties. I am personally looking forward to again seeing the three premium brands of Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz competing against each other on the race track. Our fans have waited a long time for this."

The intention is to use the BMW M3 as the basic DTM vehicle, a car that has enjoyed unique successes in the field of touring and sports car racing in the past. Eric van de Poele (BE) and Roberto Ravaglia (IT) celebrated two DTM titles with the racing version of BMW's most sporty representative back in 1987 and 1989, while before that Volker Strycek (DE) won the DTM premiere in 1984 in the BMW 635 CSi. This season the current BMW M3 GT2 caused a sensation in the world of international endurance racing, taking victory in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (DE).

And wiki has all the credibility in the racing community ...

Sorry, I do not know whether the recent "submissions/entries" (eg some commentators merely pointed out to links in other forum and expected fastest laps to record them or whether the cars were modified) met the rules of fastest laps, but disregarding some "submissions/entries" do not invalidate the lap times of others recorded in fastest laps.

ps Are you referring to the matters raised in the comments section? http://www.fastestlaps.com/articles/...m3-killer.html http://www.fastestlaps.com/articles/...ng_in_714.html
