4 banger w/a turbo My E90 sedan w/all the mods can beat a 2012 GT, how is a 4 cylinder gonna beat the 2013 GT w/460+ hp??? Seems like a step back for a hella lota $$

It looks like an afterthought, and if it was a planned design, then I'd give it an "F" grade. My opinion of course.

It's just another reason to hate-on an otherwise wonderful interior design. Especially since its the most in-keeping with BMW's driver centric heritage.

The screen is the highest point of communication with the driver, sits above the gauges, sits above the HUD. Where other makers would scuttle it below the air vents, BMW sits it up high so the driver doesn't have to take his eyes off the road. And instead of burying it in a cave of dash plastic, they put it in its most minimalistic state so there's less of a distraction and the whole dash doesn't have to lose its balance. Looks like an iPad, nothing glued-on about it.

To think it wasn't a planned design is rather silly, considering its a standard feature, car isn't available without it.

I'm actually surprised you included this youtube video link as it is a very straight forward review.

I guess I'm wondering why no other car has the stand up fixed GPS/Information screen like is in the new F30? Is it a forward thinking design, or a failed one that looks like a stuck on afterthought?

Yes. It is the Pontiac Aztec of GPS designs. Just like the Aztec set a high standard for all SUV's which followed, the 'stuck on' GPS display is so avant garde it caught all the designed-in units by surprise.
Watch for the stuck-on look to spread to radios and HVAC controls soon.

+1 Function before form. I like the design, in person (looks a little odd in photos).

If it actually functions better it might be worth it. Have a stuck-on one in the X3 & its no easier to use/see then the built-in the 335 has.

One can only guess at the life span of this forum. I, for one, will be here for a while. At the introduction of the e90 what length of time passed before the e46 forum became stagnant?

And when the jump to driving the f30 comes I will gladly move forums however much I enjoy this one.

Can I state one gripe...... Who is utterly fatigued by the number of angel eye and headlight posts/questions?

Me too! I just bought mine a month ago. I'm never fussed about the need to have the latest thing. My car doesn't suddenly become bad because another car has been released. And other than the resale value I think there are some positives in buying a car later in its life cycle. I got a great deal on my car and I'm always wary of buying new models as soon as they're released.
I don't dislike the F30 and I may buy the new coupe at some point in the future. And then again I may not. I've owned Audi's for the past ten years and fancied a change. I'm loving my car at the moment but who knows what the competition will have on offer in a few years.

I really dislike Audi's.
