help no start e39 540

I have a e39 1998 BMW 540i prod 3/98. I have not been able to get this car started since I got it in March of 2012. Replaced the motor/ alternator, cam position sensor (from the original motor), and relays laying around matching the original and battery that is it so far. Next I am going to replace the crank position sensor. I am also going to check my grounds, and starter to see if that is the problem too. Now is there anything else to check/test before I send the car out to a shop not the dealer. I also have only 1 key. this could be a dme/ews/key problem or it may not. My second question is if it is my dme/ews/key is there a good place to send them out to get them working. I heard of people sending them out but I don't know the name of the place. So if someone could let me know with advice that would be appreciated. Thank you all Bmw Owners

Forgot to add that the 540i cranks. Im not getting fuel. Usually you would hear the pump when you turn the key. The pump works when you bridge from the relay in the trunk/boot. Im assuming I get spark when I spray starting fluid into the. Intake. The motor jumps. No fault codes well from my scanner. Scantron. And a torque scanner. And nothing. Thats all I got so far.

Crank position sensor is common failure point.

When you say you replaced motor do you mean the engine or the starter?

The engine itself. The original had two broken connecting rods

So it sounds like the fuel pump is not being powered, so no fuel and no engine start.

Have you checked the behavior of the wiring connections on the pump? is power getting to the pump when ignition is on? Does the car run if you bridge from the relay? Do you get the right fuel pressure on the fuel rail (~50 psi)?

Would think it is either faulty wiring to the pump or the computer isn't enabling the pump for some reason (i don't think the computer can do this but...).

I don't remember if I got a pulse from the pump. Haven't tested it since June. When I bridge the pump the car doesn't start it goes to the rail not through the injectors. I replaced all the injectors with a 2nd set. Still the same thing. So now to the test the fuel pressure I would need a tester but I wasn't able to find one to work with car. Smh. So maybe tomorrow I'll check the wiring to the pump itself to see if I get any readings or pulse when I turn the key. But let me know if it is the dme a great please not too costly to send my dme key lock set ews for reprogramming just incase. But I'll get back to you in a little bit.

When I accidentally de programmed my key... When you try to start car it gives some error and doesn't crank at all.

You say it tries to turn over? If so.... Doubt check your timing on your flywheel TDC on cylinder 1 you should be able put a pin through bell housing location and flywheel. If no hole on the flywheel maybe it was mounted incorrectly? If all is good do that crank sensor. They are so easy to damage as they are magnetic and can easily be demagnetized!

Checking the BMW codes would tell you if you have an EWS issue.

Sounds like fuel pump is not your issue as you have ruled that out.

Now for the crank sensor. My father had tested the original crank sensor he got a pulse/reading. Now would that even matter if he got a reading on it that it would still work. Im going to replace it anyways. I just have to find a good brand to use. In your opinion where should I get the sensor from?
