angel eyes/halo

how do you get your DRL killed and set it up so your angel eyes/halos are the only light on? I see it on all kinds of BMWs but mine are only on if i have my headlights on or DRL on and i hat it, the angel eyes are one of my favorite features and id like to show them off. i have a 2001 530i with halogen lights

^Yup, that's a way to kill it.
DRL can be turned off by coding the LCM module. AEs can't be used as DRL by coding, IIRC. You can turn off the cold-check feature and hard-wired your AEs to the ECU to have them on when the key is in positon I and II.

If you take out the bulb you won't have low beams, right?

You won't have High Beam. DRL is High Beam on low power.

No. As previously stated, to turn off the DRLs you must have the car coded, either at the dealer, or an independant with the proper software. The ghetto way to go around this, is to pull the bulbs out of the high beams, which is what the DRLs work off, only at 50% power. Or just unplug them.

There is no way to code the LCM to operate the angel eyes as your DRLs. You could just turn your parking lights on.

i see i see, thats what ive been doing but my halos are incredibly dim and blue-ish (due to my aftermarket POS's, that PO purchased) i wish when my regular lights were on you can see my halos around the high beam as i see on the newer BMW's but agh
