Easy way of opening exhaust valve on a 550i

I got this car to drive it quickly in comfort, not to listen to exhaust drone.

There were a few posts asking if the msport still had this valve assembly and had not seen a definite answer so I went out and looked. '11 550 msport here, I do have a valve that covers the inside exhaust exit on each side. I did as others here have done with removing the drivers side trunk liner and bypassing the black switch. The valves are now both open and the sound is deeper, haven't had a chance to drive much but will report back if drone or other issues come up.

Anyone know where the vacuum line coming from the engine is attached to the motor? Think I have a vacuum leak too

It has to be attached to the motor or the rest of the vacuum system. Vacuum isn't magical.

OK found a broken vacuum line at the pump. All fixed and mod done

No clamp, no zip, no crazy glue.

I did this as Tatrajaan suggested and work fine, so no check engine light.

Do you have the car running when you do this procedure? And the little connector is something you get at an aquarium store, correct? Thanks.

I just same thing as post 82, with car was off, but soon as i turn back on, valve opened.

What year is your 550???


I guess the new LCI 550 doesn't have this vacuum.

I have an '08 M-Sport 550i and checked behind the drivers rear tail light; no solenoid or vacuum lines. Also, exhaust is always comming out of both pipes.

Yeah it seems the M-Sport just leaves it wide open 100% of the time. Still not loud at all compared to my dual magnaflows on the last car.
