2006 325i Check engine light on intermittently

Hey everyone,
I have an issue and I really need some good advice.

I have a 2006 BMW 325i Sedan 22k kilometers and it was driving fine until recently. I left the office to go home entered the car, started and drove...everything fine... about 10 kms down the road, I came to a stoplight. All of the sudden, as I pulled off to take the right, the car started shaking slightly and I had virtually no acceleration power...and yellow check engine light popped on.

Now, at start it up and it has a slight shaking/gurgling going on, but the idle stays constant. When driving and not accelerating, it doesn't seem to have problems, but as soon as I accelerate...it starts shaking again and gives a very sluggish acceleration response especially when I try to accelerate hard. Check engine light also comes on.

Anyways...I hope someone can give me some guidance...and hoping I don't have to take it to a dealership as I couldn't afford it right now.

Thanks in advance!

Sting Ray

Sounds to me like it'd be good to get the codes read. An estimated response? Misfire on a cylinder (or more than one) - could be spark plugs, coils, injector.
Could even be fuel filter, no way to tell unless the codes are read IMO. But at least it's a start.

Also something idiotic, but check to make sure the gas cap is sealed well...

What codes were thrown? When an error code's generated, the lamp is lit.

You got VANOS? Famously, solenoids malfunction, often fixed by cleaning. Google.

I don't think he's gotten to the point where he's looking at codes yet.

That was my first thought. What are the codes?

Hey guys,
I got the valvetronic motor changed but no change in performance. When I used the Bavarian Autosport Fault code reader, it threw out the folllowing codes

29CE - Misfire cylinder 2
2A2E - Mixture control
29CC - Misfire, several cylinders
29D2 - Misfire cylinder 6
29D0 - Misfire cylinder 4
29CD - Misfire cylinder 1
2C7E - AfterCat O2 sensor trim control, Bank 1
2A43 - Valvetronic, thermic overload protection: warning threshold
2A2F - Mixture control 2

Now I'm confused. The garage technician is telling me the valvetronic motor has to be calibrated. I thought it was basically "plug and play". With the codes reporting a lot of misfiring on the cylinders.... don't know if it's the injectors to go after next... some advice please.
