Thanks guys. In case you don't know, there is a new and very destructive virus going around (except for young Ken ) If you use Explorer as your browser, or run Java or Adobe on your computer (and 99% of us do)....please read this article before your computer is hacked. Trust me, I speak from experience...my work computer was hacked. Cliff Notes: Use another browser and make sure Java and Adobe are 100% updated until this malware is confiscated or Microsoft gets off its butt to create an IE patch...whichever comes first. http://krebsonsecurity.com/2012/08/i...are-operation/

my dad is super old school and refuses to use anything except IE, and won't heed my advice either... i tried to set him up with Chrome and he flipped his sh!t and almost had a stroke because it was different than what he's been using since AOL 4.0 was invented.

We video taped my dad way back in the day on his first time ever using a computer. He was picking up the mouse and moving it through the air in front of his face

He couldn't understand where the info was coming from either, once we taught him how he scrolled through probably 200 pictures of tractors on google images before he called it quits. That was the last time he ever used it.

the stems can be replaced rather easily without dismounting the tire.

i would use the tire machine to break the bead down, then, while the machine was compressing the sidewall, i would cut the old one out and slip the new one in.

re-inflate and viola, done.

no need to rebalance.

even chalking the tire doesn't always work because the weights *should* be removed from the face to reduce the likelyhood of scraping the rim, or sliding them on the lip to another position.

and if you've ever done tires or tire repairs on a flat rate basis, it takes less time to rebalance than it does to mark and then re-align everything.

besides, most flat repairs include the rebalance.

and jesse, i have an m3 exhaust for sale. do you need the whole thing??

My latest photoshoot. Trying to assemble a portfolio and do some freelance work here. What do you guys think?

It's 17 exposures with a speedlight on a remote, diffused with a softbox. Shot in Canon's RAW .CR2, color/exposure corrected in Lightroom and assembled in Photoshop.

Shoot took about 30 minutes, editing was 8 hours straight with one coffee break.

Here is a GIF of the edit

Pic looks good to my untrained eye

Also, I love that the new 250s actually look like legit bikes nowadays, they're no longer just afterthoughts to Honda/Kawi, etc.. Wouldn't mind a new CBR 250 for weekend/track use.

Nice job! I like the contrasts in the lighting. If there was anything I'd do to it I'd crop it at about where the P in photography is to get the clutter out of the photo and move the sig to the lower left. If the background clutter was relevant to the shot (like boxes from performance parts or bike parts) it would add relevance to the scene. Since it's just a box it's clutter. At least that's what I think the professional that does our product photos would say....

Picture looks good... But dang you gotta speed up! At 8 hours of editing, you're not going to make any money...

In terms of parents and technology. My parents are strange. They have an iPad, nice HDTV s newish pc, mom uses a droid x and dad has an iPhone. And they use them too!
However they have their ways of using em and it drives me crazy! But at least they use this stuff.

Looks great James! My only comment is the red glow of the taillight is a little directing to me. Would have been nice to shoot with the bike off and try to add glow to the headlight later, or maybe just pull the bulb or fuse for the tail.

Don, I agree you don't want any distractions in a Product marketing shot, but I like the juxtaposition of the industrial and somewhat seedy feel of the roll up door and trash in the shot with the clean and modern bike.

I hate that. It kills me when I look over and see this sharp looking Ninja, but the light turns green and it suddenly sounds like a weed whacker.

Despite common sense, that is where money is made. Typically a customer that wants photos of their car want something to show off. Anybody can buy a DSLR and get incredible results just out of camera. Maybe they can even touch it with Lightroom and Photoshop, but the thing that sets photographers apart nowadays is their ability to edit in unique ways. In my personal opinion, a customer would pay for something that is edited in a way one cannot simply shoot in a single frame.

I think I can definitely speed it up, but I still think the majority of the time should be dedicated to editing and making it perfect in everyway you can (I.E. cloning out distracting elements, correcting color, removing reflections, adding some personal touches, etc.)

But that's just my two cents!

I agree and disagree. I think that'd be a really good idea to have some sort of performance part on the boxes, but the bike is 100% stock and only 600 miles, so I think it would be inappropriate in this situation. That being said, in my training, if I had cropped like that, it awkwardly leaves the bike in the middle of the frame as opposed to "on a 1/3" of the frame. Just makes for a more appealing image.

I like how the box subliminally leads the eye to the bike.

Thank you sir. Believe it or not, the headlight and taillight were part of the edit. The bike was completely off when the shot was taken. It was honestly more of an experiment for me and I really wanted to try something I never have before-- A personal choice more than anything, and I really do like it. It's been hit and miss with some people, but the client absolutely did flips of joy over it which is what ultimately matters.

I think it's all about being versitile, willing and ready to try new things if the situation should arise!

Here is a GIF of the edit

Don't get me wrong, I love the photo work and editing you did. It makes a good looking bike look absolutely fantastic! I was commenting more from the perspective of the shoots we do for marketing. We spend as much if not more time on getting the context right as we do on the photo and post editing. In this great photo the bike is in the garage which is a normal environment for it. If you had taken the same photos and done the same editing but the location was in your living room or kitchen the context of the setting could have detracted from the quality of the photo, that's all I was trying to say.
