Sport Mode at startup?
Does anyone know if there is a way to program the suspension settings so that the car can be in Sport Mode at startup?

The answer is no, and it drives me nuts. I have no idea what BMW was thinking. I can understand the transmission not defaulting to sport, but I have mine programmed so just the suspension is firmer in sport mode. Just one of a long list of BMW stupid quirks that detract from such a great driving car.

While I'd love this, and while it's utterly annoying that "normal" is the default, there's something about pushing that sport button that makes you feel like you can take over the world. It's my equivalent of locking target on bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. Maybe that's what BMW was thinking after all...

My wife's Merc C-350 is the same way. I was told it had something to do with trying to make EPA benchmarks.

I find this to be a sticky area. I would like to start in Sport mode, and I also would like Sport to affect both the suspension and motor/transmission. Problem with this is that I don't want to subject my cold engine to the high revs that the Sport shift pattern imposes. So it seems that I have conflicting desires. U?

Ditto this with my wife's Cayenne.

Haven't tried this yet but it might work: Page 31 of the 2013 5 manual says you can set Sport Mode as a preference in your Personal Profile in iDrive. Personal settings will be remembered in the selected profile and also in the memory key fob. I'm going to try it.
