1998 BMW 740il overheats

I recently found a 1998 BMW 740il for extremely cheap. I'm considering purchasing it but it overheats. Can anyone assist me in what might cause this and a possible fix? I know possibly the thermostat or pump but just in case thats not the only problem suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Could be a pandoras box. If its a deal that sounds too good to be true it may have warped heads and or blown head gaskets. If you're lucky could be leaking valley pan. Hard to say without looking at it. If you live in the SF bay area PM.

Good luck!

Thermo fan: fan clutch; blocked/contaminated radiator; air in cooling system plus all the other stuff. Hope it's REALLY cheap.

re

I should just keep a copy of this but I'll tell you for the small investment of taking it to a Indie shop and having it checked out you can save thousands in repair costs so do it and be sure, these cars can be awesome but also can be the largest can of worms you have ever seen....

Haven't purchased yet, actually pulled back to do routine maintenance on my 750. Trans fluid change, tune up and next brakes. Will be taking one of my SA's over to kinda push us in the right direction of either purchasing or leaving it alone.
