Yeah, he means power steering (direcão hidraulica in Portuguese).

O fluido para direção é Dexron III, o mesmo fluido usado em cambio automatico. Ë tambem recomendavel trocar o reservatorio de fluido neste caso por que o filtro do sistema está embutido no reservatorio e tem que ser trocado entero. A peça não é muito cara. Olha esse link:

edit, sounds like he may be low, which would indicate a leak.

any stiffness in the wheel, or binding then looseness felt?? what color is the fluid?? if dark grey with possibly metalic particles, a new rack and system flush would be in order as this indicates a worn rack.

upgrading to the z3 rack would give a shorter lock to lock ration for a bit more performance.

But you're right, there could be anything in there. If that car has been in Brazil since new--likely because importing used is only for diplomats--it goes back to a time when auto transes were almost unknown. Brazilians had a deep distrust of auto transes for a long time--as well as 4-door cars, which I always found bizarre. GM was to blame for that, I believe.

So they may well have thrown PS fluid in there at some point as ATF just wasn't around.

Vc tem cambio automatico ou manual? Ele usa o mesmo fluido do cambio automatico "Dexron III" Fluido para cambio automatico. 2 litros e sufficiente. Vc viu o link lá em cima? No meu 1o post?
