If you want to try it, empty out the tank and don't put in more than 2 gallons. It'll clean your fuel system out and it'll at least feel somewhat faster - even though adding high-octane gas in cars without forced induction doesn't usually show any marginal power gain.

The car will run a lot better on 110, but make sure it isn't boosted with ethanol (no more than 10% in the 110 octane) otherwise your car will not run well! Most 110 is 100% gas so it's always good!
If you run 110 in your car, you shouldn't hurt it but it might be wasting a bit of money since the gains you get are marginal and decrease as you increase in octane past 100. I'd suggest filling up with maybe 23 dollars worth on a half tank, that should give you 3 gallons of 110 and 12 of 91-93 averaging out to 95-97 octane (depending on what you started with) |

Thank you guys. I am not too concerned with increasing power. More curious if this is a solid way of cleaning the involved components.

Octane won't lead to cleaning much of anything for the most part, the cleaning really comes from the motor running a tad better and theoretically you driving it harder thus you break pieces of dirt/dust off while driving (Italian tune-up). You in all honesty will need to use a good fuel in the first place to avoid buildup, and use a PEA based fuel cleaner like Techron or Redline SI-1

My friend runs 8 gallons a month in his car. He says it keeps the system clean.

For cleaning you should go with a good fuel treatment, and premium 93, 110 will not make a different that is worth the money on a 7, and you have to make sure that 110 is unleaded some race fuels are not and damage you oxygen sensor with time

Higher octane is required for higher compression engines....running it in your 7 is a waste of money.

Total waste of money if your motor is not designed or required to use it (check you owners manual). Detergent is mandated in all gas by the federal government. Some brands may use a tad more in their own formula but it is a negligible difference. It's all marketing folks....don't fall for it.
Use what your car is designed to use, buy it fresh, and keep your motor in good repair. That's the magic. |

Is there something wrong with that?
