OBD Locator??

i can swear i have one of the very first made 745LI's ever made..i have a 2002 745LI, it doesnt have the logic 7 system instead its the basic one, it's the non clossy interior wood finish more like flat wood interior ( still nice ) and now come to find out i dont think i have the OBD 2 outlet to read my check engine light codes...is that possible? i took it to oreilly's and they couldn't read it b/c they didn't have the machine to check it...the plug is underneath the steering wheel on the left but it says OBD instead of OBDII....where can i take it to read the codes instead of the stealer? i might have a transmission problem but then again it may just be the battery, i've done alot of reading im avoiding to replace the tranny...any help would be much appreciated. thanks guys!

Alot of ppl dont realise (happened when i went to get my first sticker with my car) that when u take the first interior colored cover that says OBD on it, that there is another plug dust cover u can pull out and it exposes the OBD port.

im trying to upload a picture to show you guys exactly what im looking at but it wont let me.....can anybody show me how?

im almost for sure it has the OBD instead of the OBDII, i wanna have an autoparts store read me the codes for the check engine light instead of taking it to the stealer...for now anyways.

im sure by now you already found the OBD-2 port...since you have 2002 7 series just like me you have one...not OBD-1 BUT OBD-2...
all vehicle pre 1996 have OBD-1 or vehicle specific connector but after 1996 all cars have OBD-2....

Bro,
I think you missed what 745iguy was saying...
Take the panel cover off, there's a plug - pull it out and there you will see the ODB II connection..I also was confused. See in my pic... after the cover is off... pull that fuse looking plug off (gently)

Autozone or Oreilly will check it for free. Write down the code and search it at the forums.

Anyone know the drive cycle for our 7 series? I had a check engine light due to gas cap and had that replaced and light resetted. It's been a week and my OBII system still not in readiness mode. Waiting on Secondary/Evap/o2 sensors. Can INPA or NCS get the monitors readiness set?

Will do! Man I hope it's not the transmission. I hope I hope I hope lol. It idles when it's on park a little and sometimes it gives a jerk when gear changes but not all that bad. 2002 with 74,000 miles. Great condition. Got the carfax and nothing serious

no problems..bought the 7 couple months ago...car has 120k miles and no real problems..only slight harsh shift from 1st to second but not all the time

i think by changing fluid/filter and checking mechatronics it will get solved...i bet previous owner hadn't change it..so have to find time to change it

btw are you having problems with yours??

so im driving to oreilly's with a big smile knowing i found the OBD and ready to see my codes from the check engine light....i get there and the freaking ligths decides to turn off!!! after having the light on for 3 days it decides to go off and now it wont turn back on, smh. and everything is back like it never happen...WTH!dont know if i should keep driving it or wait until the lights turn back on lol.

to answer your question bay yea i feel the same harsh shift from 1st to second but it's only once in a while, i called the dealer they said the transmission filter and fluid should be changed at around 100,000, my barely has 74,000 miles....

First 745...
Thanks for the pics and your module pic. I also was confused when I looked at the small thing. I felt pretty dumb but your examples have opened my mind to how this car operates.
