I got a set for my new 5'er - the box is OK but the mat works really well. Highly recommended as the electronics under the carpet don't like to get very wet.

I have it -- along with a second large box -- and I love it. My brief case or groceries stay put in the collapsible boxes. (Well, they USED to stay put -- I cleaned the mat and boxes with Vinylex and they now slide around more. My mistake.)

I don't use the plastic bumper guard much. Its stored position is under the mat, and it is secured with velcro. It covers about half the mat, so it's a pain to pull it out.

The mat and boxes look good, are very convenient, and the boxes collapse to flat for when you don't need them. However, they do come in handy at other times. For example, I've had my bike in the trunk several times. I laid the box upside down on the derailleur, so the bike was protected, and the rest of the crap I was taking with me was also kept away from the grease.

The fit is also extremely good. My sister also drives a 550 (hers is a non-M Sport xDrive), and she got a different BMW mat. Hers doesn't seem to fit the trunk's contours quite so well.

All in all, I'm quite happy with it and would recommend it.

I have it and like it very much. The mat does a very good job at protecting the trunk. I use the bumper guard all the time to protect the bumper against scratches. The box is useful for example when you bring a wine bottle, never knew where I could put one before. Recommended.

I purchased this mat and box when I took delivery of my car in February. The mat is great but the box fell apart in less than six months. I like the box and it is handy, but the cheap velcro used to holds the sides loosened from heat and will not keep it together any more. I am looking for a solution to fix the box so I can use it again.

Another option is the Weathertech liner

http://www.weathertech.com/bmw/2012/...1/cargo-liner/

and one of the many soft sided boxes available now. I have had this box

http://www.brandsport.com/toy-pts07-00040-02.html

for at least 10 years now and it is still going strong. When I picked it up there were very few options for soft sided boxes but there are a lot more now. I find the box incredibly handy to keep small cargo items from sliding around the trunk.

As stated above, with the electronics under the trunk floor I consider some sort of liner a necessity.

Thanks all for the input. I'll probably go with OEM liner and soft collapsable box.
