M20 Coil Over Plug conversion advice

Hello Everyone! This is my first post on any forum site and i was contemplating on converting to coil over plug on my 89 E30 M20. Ive seen it donw with a Megasquirt standalone but I was wondering if there was a cheaper way than going out and buying a 800 dollar computer or paying 300 dollars for new wires... any help will be greatly appreciated!

The problem with our cars is that as owners who care we get lumbered with all the stuff that PO's neglected. Yep, plug wires are expensive but last 10yrs or so. Not much on a per year basis BUT guess who is around at the end of the 10yrs?
