E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

I suggest taking stock injectors to FI shop who can do an off car clean, flow and spray pattern test. Has worked very well for me in the past. I have heard horror stories about tank aditives that 'clean' injectors.

I ordered a new injector but after 5 days it still hasn't arrived.
I pulled the injectors, soaked/flushed them with kerosene and installed new seals. It looks like the kerosene has revived the dead injector. Still idles a little funky but this sounds like its hitting on 6 to me. Adjusted the valves to .010 cold but may need to go in and tighten them up a thou. **EDIT** Shortly after taking that I realized the bolts for the bracket connecting the intake/VC actually seal vacuum. Popped those back in and shes idling pretty well. Last edited by Alfa Seltzer; 10-10-2012 at 04:23 PM. |

The injector clean would have saved the cost of a new set. Idle is poor most likely due to bad spray from injectors or low fuel pump pressure. Check them both and correct any faults. Then go for a long (local) drive to get things moving again. Gentle on brakes etc and keep speeds down. I suggest local only as you have to restore reliability - long walks should be reserved for sunset beaches!
