Who has the iphone 5? What are the reviews?

I'm in Dubai right now and the iphone 5 costs $1,400 US

I see many Arabs here rocking the Galaxy III and have not much seen the iphone 5.

Can we get some reviews on the iphone 5 here? I'm about to reserve mine with my carrier so by the time I get back home it'll be ready.

Any overlooked flaws again like with the previous generations?

A lot of people find Apple maps to be a problem but it has not for me since I have nav in my car. On AT&T in Atlanta LTE speeds regularly exceed 50mbps. The new CPU and improvements to Safari mean web pages load almost instantly. Basically it does everything the 4S did better with a slightly larger screen. New Do Not Disturb feature in iOS 6 is a welcome addition.

Along with the S3 and the iPhone 5 if you wait a couple of months the Lumia 920 Windows Mobile 8 phone will be out and may be the superior piece of hardware amongst the three.

The unit is absolutely jewel-like in its quality.
A 4/4S now seems bulky/heavy by comparison.
LTE speeds on AT&T vary by market, I can get 35/20 in my city, a little less in the NE, sometimes a little more on the west coast.
I like that fact that I can operate it with one hand due to the same width as the older units.
The beauty of capitalism and the marketplace is that many other vendors make larger screens for those who want to stuff something large in their pocket.

I'm a Navigon user (full GPS, no network required), but spent some time testing Navigon on a 4S vs Apple Maps on the 4S & 5.
In 1800+ miles Apple Maps never steered me to the wrong location, so far at least.

The 5 is very quick, and the new processor is very noticeable if you spend time in iPhoto/iMovie/Garageband (which I do).

We all get jaded that the latest gadget fails to impress, but I remember when HD video editing required a monster tower with liquid cooling and waiting periods for rendering.
Now one can prototype HD projects on a phone.
Or that the Beatles recorded Abbey Road on a 4 track recorder the size of a washing machine, now with Garageband on iOS we have an digital 8-track recorder in our pocket.
Truly amazing stuff if you have been in such industries for any amount of time.

Oh, and it also makes phone calls

For me it's not much different than the iPhone 4 but I spend most of my time on wifi, and only have limited time during the day to play on the phone. I easily make it through the day but it will all depend how you use it.

With moderate use I can make it almost two days. If i unplug at 5 am day one i will plug in the following day around 6 pm. With heavy use, ie excessive Pandora streaming, it is reduced significantly but it still makes it through the work day. I am on Sprint so it is currently not using LTE, it uses wifi and 3G.

I just picked one up in Hong Kong for my wife. Looks beautiful and feels great to hold in hand. If you are an average person then you will find this phone great with plenty of features but if you are a tech geek or tech savy then you will find that this phone does not have anything really new to offer. Speed wise it is very fast and nice.

I find it best to have an iPhone and a Google smartphone as well. Each has its advantages.

Great feedback. Just reserved mine to pick up on my return home. The phone cases here (amongst everything else) are super nice. I'll pick up a great iphone 5 case here

IPhone 5 should be landing in Dubai pretty soon then it should be much cheaper to buy in Dubai.

Not saying the latest iPhone isn't the best in certain aspect, but in the eyes of those who want one, it doesn't matter what else is out there.

Yep. And brand recognition is what Apple does best. Americans tend to be brand-faithful as well.

The ones that landed are grey market phones if I am not mistaken. When Etisalat starts selling them they won't be $1400...

Pretty much everything the new iPhone 5 does the older iPhone 4 S could do as well. The new iPhone 5 does things faster so if you care about speed then you will find the new iPhone 5 to be quite a bit faster. Speaker sound volume is still ****t* the new iPhone 5 and it is starting to look a bit dated as each icon has to be opened manually and you can not customize things like you can with a Google smartphone. Now if one could customize things like on a a Google smartphone that would be awesome.

Feature wise there really is not much new or special if you have IOS 5 running on the iPhone 4S and the new iPhone 5.

I met up w/ my brother on Saturday, who just picked-up iphone 5 for his wife and SG3 for himself.

I spend a good 5 mins playing w/ both phones... I then spend another 10 mins on his SG3 until he kicked me off from it.

I have NO DOUBT that Consumer Report was correct in picking the SG3 as the BEST SMART PHONE I am sold on the SG3 and have ordered mine from Wirefly.com today

I must admit, it does feel a bit weak in my hand. I think Apple figured that most people buy iPhone cases for their iPhones (In which they do) so they wanted to use the weight of the iPhone as a selling point and to save weight they made everything light and small

^ My S3's cheap battery cover has already cracked twice. I'm on my third one. Let's not pretend that it will break. Of course, there will be some issues when they come out. Just swap it out for a new one at the Apple store. That's the best part about it.

The MacBook Air uses super thin aluminum and it is durable.

Aluminum is fine. My launch day unit and most of my friends all got launch day units also. No scratches, nothing. No damage.

OP, go play with them and make up your mind. You can't go wrong with the iPhone 5 if you like it. Don't let the Apple haters sway your decision.

swap? they are charging $200 for the swap. the macair aluminum shell is much thicker and edges are much wider. not comparable.
