Is it me, or does this sound like a lie?

Seller claims it's a bad clutch... but for 200 why not fix it and make thousands more?...Smells fishy. Any thoughts?

Yeah, weird.. It looks like he already started taking the exhaust apart...why not finish?
Sounds like he got burned from a seller on a BMW forum. |

Seems like a good deal though, only 55k miles but the seats look like they have 100k on them....

I'll take it one step further. Why do the pics look photo shopped?

Well it has a salvage title and a bad clutch, I don't think the price is that fishy considering.

Have it towed to a BMW indie, familiar with the E39 M5, for a full mechanical eval.

I believe an M5 clutch kit will be about $500. I may be wrong.

Just wanted to put it out here as a be careful. I wouldnt use a 10 ft poll unless it was 7k or parts value.
Edit: looks like the drive shaft was disconnected... totally agree with BentValve.

I bet that's just the tip of the iceberg. Sounds like someone pulled a fast one on him and is now trying to pass that headache to someone else.

if it was a clean title it would be worth 16k with those miles but with a bad clutch and salvage i think it is worth 12k but, there are allot of things that look wrong with this car. The seats dont look like they have 50k, or 100k, more like 150k and another thing is all the pics look fake as hell. and as someone else stated. he says he doesnt have time or doesnt want to fix this clutch... but he already put the car up and dropped the exhaust... all the signs say no, but you never know. my best friend last week bought an 07 350z with 3k in mods on it and 45k miles for 10k cash, that car is easily worth 20k and its clean title and everything. so sometime it doesnt hurt to take a look.

Pics still look fake to me. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I agree, the car is too bright looking for night time and the paint has no shine. Bad photoshop?..

It looks like a High Dynamic Range picture (HDR) but overdone to the point that it looks fake. Stupid to do this type of photography for a sale ad since the purpose is to give buyers an idea on the condition of the car and not be a work of art (it fails at both endeavors though). I wouldn't waste my time with this unless your looking for a cheap project/fixer upper car that you plan to do a lot of work on. Just remember that normally people aren't selling things at a low price because they want you to get a good deal out of it. This guy may be honest (which doesn't really mean much since he doesn't even know the past history of it), but with Euro luxury cars it just isn't worth the risk to buy a bargain one.
