This is very likely going to be the route for our Saturday Drive after we leave Lime Rock Park

We will head from Lime Rock to Sharon, Ct, then to Amenia, NY, Millbrook, NY (where we will stop) Bulls Bridge, CT (Where we will cross a Covered Bridge) and then to Kent, Ct (antother stop), Housatonic Meadows State Park (another stop) and then on to our final stop for dinner at the Falls Village Inn,

We will be mostly on back roads that are fun to drive on and are not heavily traveled.

Hey, we're going right by Mudge Pond!

The event plan so far:

Those of us who will be arriving Friday Night will meet at the Boathouse Restaurant in Lakeville for Dinner at 7:30 PM. The Boathouse is about 5 minutes from the Wake Robin Inn where several of us will be staying. After Dinner we can hang out in the Bar at the Wake Robin.

Saturday AM we will all meet at the Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville at 9:00 AM as several of us will be staying there.



Another small group will head down from the It'll do Motel in Onion Ring Massachusetts (I think that's where they said they will be staying) and meet us at the Wake Robin.



We will then head to Lime Rock via some nice back roads and spend the morning there. We will raffle off some hot laps in one of the LRP M3s with "Sideways Simon" Kirkby at the wheel. We can arrange tours of the track for anyone who is interested. We will have lunch at the Lime Rock Cafe (outdoors - dress warmly) and then head on our afternoon drive which will go though Sharon Ct, Amenian NY, Millbrook NY and Kent CT and terminate at the Falls Village Inn in Falls Village Ct.



After Dinner we can meet back at the Wake Robin and hang out in the bar.

Sunday AM we will once again meet at the Wake Robin and go in a drive to Winsted Ct, (route still being worked on) where we will be given a tour of the Wall of America by artist Ellen Griesedieck (Ms. Sam Posey). If we are lucky Sam Posey will be there as well. The tour will be at 12 noon. Contributions to the museum are not mandatory but will be appropriate and appreciated.







There are 3 suggested giving levels to enable everyone to enroll and be counted as an AMP Member.

• $120 (the Mural is 120 feet wide)
• $48 (the Mural is 48 feet high)
• $6 (the Mural is 6 feet deep)

After the tour of the wall of America we will all head home,

I wondered what it looked like! It's the inspiration for the title of Posey's book. He never included a picture of it, though he did show the 'course'.

Sam still lives on Mudge Pond and has a dune buggy that he drives around a dirt track on his property. I rode with him and he is still a really good driver.

Hopefully he will be at the Wall of America on the 28th,

Arrgghh, looks like so much fun. I've been simply swamped with work. Busy surgical schedule, research projects, and clinic. Despite priorities with BMW life and pursuits have totally gotten in the way. I'll really see what I can do but it doesn't look good for that weekend.

You could fly to NYC and rent a car for the weekend, You can even rent an F30 from BMW Manhattan.

I am going with the numbers in post 188 and have made reservations for 18 (more or less) for Saturday night at the Falls Village in at 6:00 PM. They can give us our own area and a fixed price menu with a choice of entrees.

At Lime Rock we are going to auction off 10 hot laps in the Drivers Club M3 with Drivers Club coach Simon Kirkby at the wheel. There will be two passengers per session and the 5 highest bidders will get to ride in the front seat. Helmets will be provided by Lime Rock. Proceeds will go to the American Mural Project.

We are still working out the details for lunch at Lime Rock and Friday night dinner at the Boathouse. Friday night dinner will be at 8:00PM.

Picture number 2 is pretty trypical of early morning at LRP.
It sits in a valley and is frequently shrouded in fog. The fog gerally burns off by about 9:00 AM when the track officially opens.

There is an excellent video called "Lime Rock Park, The Secret Valley of Racing". It will be on sale at the track.
