DAYCO 81933 mechanical tesioner pulley (No longer made by Ina?)
Ordered a Dayco tensioner pulley 89133 to replace a pulley on a mechanical tensioner. To my surprise it doesn't look like the one found on prior threads. This one doesn't have the INA logo stamped on anywhere and the bearing in the middle is all black compare the red/orange on the INA made ones. Has C&U stamped in the middle instead of INA.
A simple google searched turn up a company in China that makes car parts under C&U ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Box says MADE IN GERMANY but pulley inside isn't a INA made pulley .... should I call and get a exchange or is this the new pulley from Dayco??? I recently change my mech tensioner. Got it from ECS or Pelican and it was Ina.

I returned the one from the first post back to RockAuto and ordered a second one from a different place, exact same thing. Looks like INA no longer makes the Mechanical Pulley for Dayco. Looking at the new pulley both times, it looks to be inferior in quality to the INA one.
This is going back to too, just going to pick up the whole INA mechanical tensioner assembly. |

Think you did the right thing.
Not going to chance it with possible Chinese crap. |

Last week, I picked my Dayco 89133 from Autozone for $29. It had the red/orange bearing color but I don't recall seeing INA anywhere on it. I have since installed it and so far so good..

About a year ago I went to the local Napa to pick up a Dayco 89133 (thread title has the number wrong) and they cross-referenced it to a Gates 38018 instead. I still haven't gotten around to doing my pulleys yet but checking the specs it looks like it should fit.....70 mm bearing i.d. and outer pulley o.d. of 70 mm. Only difference is it is 26 mm wide versus 25 for the Dayco. Can't see that being an issue. It has an NTN bearing in it. Might be an alternative to the Dayco/INA if they're going to become scarce. It cost me $17.16. Says Made in USA on the box.

Thanks for the heads up, didn't realize I had switch off one number on the thread title.
Anyway, the 2nd Dayco pulley was ship back too. I was shocked that both had the "MADE IN GERMANY" header on the bottom of the box but when you pull out the tensioner, both said "C & U". Both pulley were all black in color, unlike the black and red some of you guys got. I would had been happy with a NTN bearing in the middle but I'm not taking my chance with some potential Chinese made junk. The pulleys definitely look inferior in quality compare to the other brands I had seen in person...... |
