Overheating Problem
Hello Bimmer World,
I drive an E46 BMW 318i of 1998 and experincing serious overheating problems. 1 day when i was driving home i noticed that the tempareture gauge was rising. I stopped topped the coolant drove home and took it to the garage 1st thing in the morning, trust me these guys are chancers. at 1st i was told the radiator fan was not producing enough speed to cool the radiator.....i had that fan replaced (the whole unit) still the tempareture rose.... ...replaced the waterpump.....still it was overheating ....removed the radiator took it for a service and cleaning they found sum blokages on it and just when i thot my problems were resolved the car is still overheating...we then realised that the hose taking in the coolant into the engen is cold yet the hose taking the coolant fro the engen is boiling hot. we then removed the thermostat to allow direct ciculation of the coolant but still the problem persists.....please help i have bled the car and that part i think i do it and i do it very well i been driving this car for 4years only now am experiencing this. Regards Izzy in Botswana |

Well... production started 1998.
And atleast here in europe, year in paper is according when it was registered first time, not according how BMW call model year. Anyway 1998-2001 should be technically same car. Last edited by lgr122; 10-12-2012 at 10:43 PM. |
