Ok...thats fine, if nobody wants to help because of some lesson on how to look up info for myself or because you don't approve of the way I have my car set up....whatever. If somebody could just PLEASE givee advice on how to get these old, rusty,.probably welded on nuts off the studs that hold the manifold to the head so I dont snap them off I will never ask another question again.

Penetrating oil and if that doesn't work add heat. I would like to see what broke before I recommend what to get but the parts you described sound correct. It probably comes out the top but I am not certain.

I was able to remove mine by removing the motor mount on the exhaust side and used a 10mm gear wrench for some & a 10mm 1/4"drive socket for others. If I recall, you have to remove the front one to actually get the rear one out.
The other hard part was unbolting the manifolds from the exhaust system. I wound up breaking 2 of the studs & having to replace them with bolts. (the oem versions of the bolts are made of Inconel & cost ~$19 each.) |

- Get new nuts from BMW (just in case). Most of the times, you can re-use the nuts/bolts.
- Use BMW gasket only! - Wear goggles, this is a must as debris will fall into your eyes! - Spray WD-40 or PB Blaster into these nuts and bolts 1h before doing the work. - For stubborn nuts/bolts a propane torch ($15 at hardware store) is very useful. http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...70&hg=11&fg=50
