I can get seven quarts of Mobil 1 0w-40 for like $ 45.00 A Mann filter online for under $ 5.00 I change it myself,,, Heck I enjoy changing it, I change it every five thousand miles or so.
Its Cheap relatively speaking. Overkill ? most likely. Why chance something that could cost so much to repair for so little savings in the long run ??? If people want to go 10k or even 15k between oil changes have at it. Oh when you go to sell your car make sure you state in used car ad You changed the oil every 15k !! good luck with that.. |

My E39 with 220k gets Syntec and a filter every 10k-- at the suggestion of my mechanic. He sees a few more cars than any of us, and when questioned he replied that his observations led to and justified his recommendation. And in a way, he sells oil- at retail. Lost profit!
