$48.12 for two pairs of wiper blade INSERTS
Yes that's right
, that is what I paid at Savage BMW of Ontario, CA $48.12 for two pairs of wiper blade inserts . A pair for my 01 330xi and a pair for my 99 e39. And the pair for my e39 didn't even have the metal blades, the clerk told me that if I'm missing the metal blades I would have to buy the whole wiper blade ![]() Now we know why we call them STEALERS! The US is a market economy so vendors set their own prices, at their own risks. It is our choice to buy or not to buy at the asking price so if the price is out of line, walk away. There are many other sources than the dealer.

You're right. All of you are right, and I know better than that. That's the last time I buy anything from this dealer in a non-emergency situation.

For your e39...you should have ordered (asked for) part # 61 61 80 154 441...that part nbr comes with the metal reinforcement strip already clipped to the rubber refill. This topic has been discussed many times on the forum to help owners not get confused with the mutiple refill options. BMW sells 2 different refills...and the one set of refills (61 61 8 217 711) costs way more than the one's listed below and usually don't come with the reinforcement strip (as you've found out):

1+ to QSilver,
I paid less than $10 for both refills from my local BMW dealer. Actually these refills fit my Volvo and Honda Odyssey too. Pretty generic stuff when it comes to refill with metal strip. |

That's horrible.
I paid $10 bucks for the tiny bleeder screw that goes on the radiator expansion tank at the dealer once if it makes you feel any better |

Coming from a Seattle resident....(where it rains a lot)
The cheaper 441 from the dealer last less than half as long as the 711s.
I buy the 711s from www.autohausaz.com for $6 or so, with free shipping (if you spend $50 minimum). I was told the 441s are from the "value line" at BMW and used as warranty replacements for the "free maintenance program". The 711s are what come with the car originally.

I drive the Touring way more than the e38...and you can see the dates on my receipts below (2009 & 2012) The reason for the purchase this year was that the tip of one of the refills ripped on the Touring's wiper blade...since the blades on both the e38 & e39 had been through a few full winter/spring/summer/fall seasons...I replaced them all this year...even the ones that seemed okay. But again, I don't leave in the North West where there is probably more annual rainfalls than the Great Lakes area. ![]() (receipts showing the length of time between replacing wiper blades on the e38...with the one blade on the Touring actually ripping at the tip. The refills on the Touring were replaced a few months earlier (in the fall of 2008)...but I can't find that receipt)

Aioros' experience is similar to mine in that my dealers (in the Silicon Valley) don't seem to be the best place to buy wiper blade refills either.
Luckily we researched this to death and there are many supplier options listed in this thread: - Where to buy your next wiper blade refill (1) & how to replace the wiper blades (1) Here's a screenshot from that extensive thread with the 4 caveats for wiper blade refill replacements:

Bosch also sells the the inserts in a plastic baggie, multi-language packaging that is obviously designed for sale in Europe. I have found these online and bought them once, they also lasted pretty long, perhaps a year and a half.
