Changing microfilter in 645ci

How do I change the microfilter?
Is this easily done, want to avoid the dealer and do it myself

There are two filters. Check out my Brake Pad DIY which shows you how to remove one of the two filters in the section related to brake fluid (right at the end of the DIY). If you search the main forum there are also a few good DIY pics for the microfilters.

i change mine both of them took me less then 5min

Easiest filter change that I have ever done on a vehicle. Right under the hood by the window on both sides of the vehicle

Sorry to bump an old thread, but this thread helped out a lot changing out the microfilters. Got a quick question, I'm looking down the intake hole on the side and I see tons of crap and dead vegetation in there. It's completely jam packed in there...anyone know a way to clear this out? I tried using vacuum, needle nose pliers and even chopsticks but no luck, the space is too small. Is it ok to have all that crap in there? AC still works fine and stuff.

Can you take a pic of what you are trying to clean? If you are trying to get down into a tight area I like to use a 1/2" clear rubber hose attached to a shopVac. I have the clear hose attached to a step up adapter that fits into the shopVac hose. The adapter cost about $0.50 at home depot. I added a bit of duct tape to the threaded end to make sure it fits snugly into the end of the shopVac hose:


Is it the try you are trying to clean? The tray under the filter lifts out which would make for easy cleaning. Here is a pic from my Brake Pad DIY:

I used a section of plastic coated wire I had in my garage to shift the bulk, then dropped my high pressure airline in there for the rest...think it's more of a drain hole than an inlet, and all clear now. Wasn't causing me any issues either, it just needed doing!

Hey Yorgi, thanks for the tip, I guess I'll have to hit home depot...in the picture you posted, the hole I'm talking about is beneath that hood strut...it leads down to the side.

I'll try that wire trick to loosen up the packed debris too. Thanks for the help guys

I simply took out the filters and used a vacuum cleaner crevice tool to vacuum out the filters. Worked like a champ. Code cleared itself.
