Dinan Sale

At 29kmi I'm on the fence as to whether I'll do any more mods to my 550, but I did check out Dinan's site which describes the Stage 4 components.

On the Stage 4 Performance Intercooler Software Upgrade page it says: Maximum gain of +20 hp and +10 ft-lbs (when used together with Dinan Stage 4 Intercooler Software)


On the High Performance Air to Water Intercoolers page it says: Add 10 Horsepower when used in conjunction with the High Performance Air-to-Water Intercoolers

So what have you guys been told: 10hp, 20hp, or 30hp?

Took advantage of the October sale and had Stage 2 installed at Motor Works West in Wyckoff, NJ. One word, WOW. Throttle lag gone. Improved mpg. The low rev torque is awesome. Pulling from stop awesome. My wife could feel the difference after a minute in the car. Definitely going to order the suspension before the end of the month.

I still have not heard from Dinan that the tunes, and what I really want, the exhaust, is ready for the 2013 550i. Maybe next year.

I have scheduled stage 2 along with the suspension for next Thursday. I can't wait to see the difference.

The Dinan suspension mod is amazing. Transforms the handling feel of the car.

I have the stage two and will order the suspension upgrade tomorrow so I can get it installed next week. In 18 months (or less) I am on to my next car so I can't see getting anything else done. I am a Porsche guy so I'll see if the suspension upgrade sways me in the direction of a M5. If not I'll go with the 991S next time around.

Does it make the ride harsh? I have been debating this because I like the ability to switch to comfort mode and glide over rough roads. At the same time I can switch to Sport+ on smooth roads and just enjoy the crisp handling ( albeit it is not crisp enough )

Finally have Dinan Stage 2 scheduled. Will be done Tuesday, 10/30. Can't wait any longer....

Scheduled stage 2 for Oct 23. A little treat for myself on my birthday.

I did the same, and a few weeks later went stage 3 with the Dinan exhaust. It really puts the finishing touches on the overall package. You got to have sound with this car and the power it puts out with the tune, IMO.

I feel like the exhaust is a bit pricey. I'm not ready to change the exhaust note yet. I want my car to be as close to a sleeper as possible, at least until summer 13 - when I put some 20s, black grills, new exhaust, new diffuser, and of course Dinan suspension.

Can the exhaust be done before the stage 1 and 2 ?

Yes...you can do the exhaust without any tune. You will still get the much improved sound.

What exhaust note? There is none, stock. That is the one thing that drove me crazy with this car...it sounded like a 335d....no exhaust sound what so ever.

I have no idea what BMW was thinking when they made this car so quiet. It just did not blend with the power it puts out. The Dinan exhaust is what the stock 550i should sound like OEM...IMO.

They went to the trouble of changing the tips on the Msport, I really can't imagine not giving the rest of the exhaust a more aggressive sound. Make it an option on the non M-sport and call it done. BMW dropped the ball for sure in this aspect. I don't exactly want to wake the neighbors but a little grunt would be nice.

@p-town I agree the car is quiet, and I do miss the roar my 135i produced, but I really don't want to draw any attention to my car until summer 2013. Plus, the snow and salt on the roads will only do damage to a new exhaust that I won't really enjoy in the winter. So I'll hold off a bit. I'm thinking about an eisenmann exhaust. I saw a few vids online, there's no droning but there's a sweet note when you gas it.

No it does not make the right harsh at all. Ride is slightly firmer but in no way harsh or unrefined.

This is probably the FIRST Dinan Exhaust video I have seen on the F10. But I really wish it was pushed so I could hear more ( looks like throttle was feathered during this video )...

I am very close to making a decision on Dinan exhaust, but after hearing the Eisenhaun (ignore my spelling) sport exhaust having second thoughts.

This video does not do it justice what so ever. You can see that the exhaust flap on the inside pipe is not even opening up.

The exhaust is deep yet not too loud under light load, yet when you get on it and/or go over 3k rpm, the flaps open up and you get a very mean rumble.

The Dinan the more mature sounding of all the systems out there, IMO.
