Question Insurance Thoughts

Hey everyone. Would like to get some thoughts on insurance coverages, specifically whether to carry full coverage on my '99 Z3. Has anyone been down that path in experience where it was proved or not justifiable for a 13yr vehicle? Are there even enough parts to pull out there "in case" something does happen on my behalf? Just trying to weight out the options for either full coverage or just comprehensive/liability. I would keep my uninsured no matter what. Plenty of those in MS running around w/o insurance. Anyway, I appreciate the feedback. Thanx in advance.

Inquire with your insurance company.. there are many cost saving options that also allow you to carry good coverage. I have my house and both of my vehicles insured through the same Agent and through the same insurance carrier.. so by having my house and having a multi-car discount offered through the same carrier, I am able to carry good coverage on both Vehicles for a good price.

Since my Z3 is not my primary vehicle, I have my '98 insured as a 'collectable' with American Collectors. There are mileage and other restrictions, but for <$150/year, you can't beat the price especially here in NJ.

Thanx Bstanton and Alm168. I already to have a "package" deal with my insurance company with the house and multiple cars, but it is the full coverage portion that is killing the rate for the Z. Alm168, I think I'd blow the mileage part out of the water since I love to drive mine. But, is the <$150/yr for full coverage or other? I'm curious. Thanx again for the info.

I have full coverage on my '03 Z4 through Hagerty with a guaranteed value of $15000 for $285 a year (SC location). Their only requirement is that you have a primary vehicle 5 less tahn 5 years old.

SMAYO964, I don't have the policy with me, but I believe that it is for liability coverage only. With a 14 year old toy, I figured that the amount spent on full coverage was not worth it. Here is the link to American Collectors: http://www.americancollectors.com/Co...y-Features/28/

I have reg. full coverage on my '00. It costs me about 52.00/mo. here in NJ. I drive the Z mostly year round, and wouldn't want to take the risk of someone totalling my car and not being able to replace it.

I feel similar to Amancuso.. for the $$ that is spend to upkeep the Z3, if something terrible happens, I don't want to ever look back and say "why didn't I carry better coverage". It is all personal preference... I do drive mine at least 3 days a week back and forth to work.. almost all highway miles.. so for me, I like knowing that it is covered should one of us crazy MA drives hit another one of us crazy MA drivers.

I have full coverage with Erie insurance. Now if my car in totaled, I will get book value, say $9000.00. If I have insurance with Hagerty or Americancollectors.com, I can get insured for $15,000 if I wanted too. I have a lot of extras in my car that would not be covered under a normal plan. The cost difference is minimal in my case. I have fire and theft during winter storage.

I understand your positions, but with four primary use vehicles with full coverage for four drivers (two under the age of 25), I could not justify any more money on my Z3 that will see less than 3K miles/year and only if the fair weather gods on my side.

i have full coverage on my 03 z4. it stings but, if totaled it would be replaced. I kinda don't even want it anymore. as my signature kinda hints at. The damn thing is a PITA, i've moved on to bikes.
