Rear '13 MB GL back end.

I just saw a '13 GL Class on the road, and couldn't help but notice a similarity to something very familiar...

Cant put my finger on it...

The back end looks so similar to our rears, how funny. They took a pretty big departure from the previous generation's rear.

That's one thing I like about the new GL.

Heck yea, they basically copy and paste the rear of BMWs flagship instead of their own S Class, that's a pretty big compliment!

I liked it, looks better and more similar in person. I really like the backend of our car. Not many cars have a well designed back, usually it tends to look like an afterthought. Ie Audi

I LOVED the rear of my '10 and '12 7 Series. From day one, I liked the rear end more than the front. I still think the 2009-2013 7 Series has the BEST rear end of ANY luxury car. Just timeless, elegant, aggressive and beautiful!

+1, I was about to post something similar, the rear is so aggressive but I think the RR ghost has the best looking rear of any luxury sedan especially with the dual exhaust.

Thanks!! I still, IMO, think the 7 Series is the best from the rear. I never though loved the front end of the F01/F02...I think the headlight desgin is really cool (sans the dated and archaic halogen Corona Rings), but for me the upright grill is too massive and looks un aero dynamic!

I do LOVE the front of the RR Ghost. The modern interpretation of the classic RR Grill and the LED headlights are awesome!! I do think having the dual exhausts on the Ghost helps the rear, but the rear is not the favourite part of my car (but I see how one can like it

Interesting...

We are looking at getting a GL for my wife & boys. I prefer the previous tails. I don't like the lights running into the hatch like that on SUV's.

With both my 2010 and 2011 W212's i had significant electrical HVAC issues with both cars along with a myriad of electronic gltiches.

My 2011 W164 was bo much better. Suspension issues, rear hatch blew out, rediculously noisly interior, electronic gremlins, and of or course typical poor customer service.

I might not be rolling in an F01 but I'm on my 2nd F10. I considerd 12 GL450 new, that had a great lease available on it even back in June. It still was covered in MB-offgassing text. It still had to go to a dealership that wasn't that great on repairs, but still seeed to dry, and a giant aging vehice.

i told the MB sales guy the vehicles were different, and F10 550xi vs the GL. I test rode the GL and knew the 555 and it's features were the right car.

if i need something to beat in the bush, a Ford or Chevy pick up beats it.

My 2001 ML320, 2008 ML63 AMG and 2009 ML63 AMG all had a lot of electrical problems and near constant rattles and interior noises! My 2011 GL550 did not have the electrical problems, but the HVAC could be glitchy (the rear A/C would sometimes activate and sometimes I would have to turn the system on & off to make it go on & stay on). Sadly the 2011 GL550 had A LOT of interior noises and the build quality did not seem awful, but it was leaps and bounds behind a C, E or S Class (those models are German made, for the US market). I try and never say never, but I am fairly certain I will not ever own another ML or GL.

We have a 2012 Ford Raptor truck....and this is our almost daily driver. It is awesome!!! The back seat it HUGE (more leg room than the Rolls Royce) and with Navigation, heated & cooled seats, camera package, Satellite radio, leather, etc, etc...It is a great family car/truck and "beater". lol

Interesting.. The reviews on the 10' and up GL are great from various places I've visited.

Our 07 GL450 was problem free for the 63kmi that we owned it.

BTW, I like the overall look of the previous generation GL better.
