Getting valves timed?

Hey everyone. Spent about an hour on google until I found the right phrase for what I originally asked. So i just deleted my long write up for this. Sorry about that.

Although if anyone wants to tell me what could happen if I don't get my valves adjusted that would be appreciated. Then I can tell my mom to shut up when she complains about me putting money into fixing up my BMW so it runs to 1 million miles on its stock engine. Emphasis on "MY BMW" lol. Thanks guys.

Valve timing wrong - massive engine damage, tears, poverty and depression. Valve clearance wrong - noise, poor performance and wear.

When your valve timing is wrong, big problems happen, usually fairly quickly, and can be detected by the lay person. When your valve clearances go off, oftentime because that happens over a long period of time, a layperson will usually not detect it as you get used to the degrading note of the engine as you drive. Which is why there is a specific service interval recommended to adjust valve clearances on non-twin cam cars. You gotta check the Bentley manual for the service interval for your car.

What you are probably looking to do is adjust your valves. Your engine is the M20 engine so search google for m20 valve adjustments.

You can do the work yourself if you are mechanically inclined and have the right tools. WE are here to help if you have any q's.
