How much standard installation of Xpel ultimate cost?
How much standard installation of Xpel ultimate on F10 cost? By standard I mean covering the front bumper, headlamps, fog lights, partial hood and fender, side view mirrors and door
handle slots. |

$1500 for my installation which was the entire front end: Hood, bumper, quarterpanels, headlamps, side mirrors, door handle wells, and trunk loading protector.

Did you have this done on your recent 550i and your current M5? How does one maintain it?

On M5 (when the lazy buggers at BMW finally get round to delivering the car) I am doing same as 550i plus full hood, fenders and trunk lip. This is $1270. Nothing to maintain. Just wash. Add sealant if you like but not necessary. The clearbra beads water better than CQuartz.

Sounds easy enough!!
Does the clear plastic change color or peal at all with time? |

Saw a three year old white 3er the other week with the 3M Expel on as desired above. The Expel had definitely yellowed! By at least 5 shades. Did not see any peeling though. Suspect you could minimize the show by covering whole panels. Personally after seeing that would not do it on any light color car unless the whole car was done. It may be less revealing on darker colors.

Xpel Ultimate is a multi layer film with a UV protected self healing clearcoat. It can't yellow because of sun. It can yellow because of exposure to naphtha or kerosene. Plexus is 23% naphtha and is commonly used by uneducated users on these films. I just make sure I had no kerosene or naphtha products used on my car.

Actually I take that back, just checked my receipt and I did pay $700. I did have a quote for $650 but I just felt more comfortable with the more expensive option. He spent a lot of time describing the process and answering any questions I had. This is for xpel ultimate.

I can drive to Atlanta, as I often come and can get it done there. Was just trying to boost local economy. |

For reference, I paid 1650.00 for Xpel ultimate and included full bumpers, full hood, full fenders, roof, A pillars, door edges, door handles, rocker panels, headlights, fog lights, mirrors......I went a little nuts. The only place you can see a line is the door edges, however. All the full work is wrapped and completely undetectable which makes a big difference. Paying alittle more for a top installer is worth it. Full coverage has different meanings per installer....so chose carefully. I could have paid 1200 for the same work, but it was computer cut and most edges were not wrapped and you would see lines near each panel edge. Also, I plan to keep this car or pass it down to my son. Typically, I would typically only recommend front bumper if you trade or lease every 2 to 4 years.

I normally keep the car 3-4 years at the max. I buy and don't lease as my mileage is very variable.
I'm not going for full hood but I like your idea of not having a computer cut. Thanks |

Nice. I don't know if you've dealt with him before. My experience was fantastic, he did a perfect job.

No it is my first time with him. I'm looking forward to it. Did you wait while the work was done, or drop it off?

I waited, it took roughly 3-4 hours IIRC. They have a nice waiting area with a projector and home theater seating. I was able to work while I waited.
